Official TMNT thread, return of the classic giant figures

Eric Sachs!?
Really not liking the direction the movie is going in :smh: .

At least the cartoon is good. Nah screw that, I think the cartoon is great. They've included elements from the comics and the OG cartoon. :pimp:

And the actual voice actors from the og cartoon will make an appearance as the 80s turtles later this season. Looking forward to that.

Yeah, definitely looking forward to that. Wonder if they'll bring the turtles back from the TMNT Forever.......thought it was a nice touch adding the Mirage turtles to that movie. Made me check out the comics.

Making plans for an old Turtles reunion

The second season of TMNT will feature a one-hour special with special cameos by the original voice actors from the 1987 cartoon in their old roles, including Cam Clarke (Leonardo), Townsend Coleman (Michelangelo), Barry Gordon (Donatello) and Paulsen (Raphael).

It'll be a story point, too, that brings classic and current Turtles together.

"We all have a nostalgia for these characters in all their incarnations, and any time we can serve it up, we take the chance," Nieli says. "The trick is finding a way to do it where it doesn't feel wedged in, where you don't even see it coming.

"I really like doing that stuff because I do have respect for the old stuff," he adds. "I try not to geek out but it's more like you just feel some pride in what you've been able to be responsible for. Like, yep, there they are — Turtle reunion. It's not as cool as a Zeppelin reunion, but being able to bring something together, I'm thrilled I get to do that.

Had the bodacious privilege to hit Studio A at Nickelodeon in Burbank last week to record a few lines as classic Mikey for an upcoming episode of the new TMNT… what a blast!! Getting to hang with me old pal, Barry Gordon, made it even sweeter!! Cowabunga, dudes!! — with Barry Gordon.

TOONZONE NEWS: I understand some time in season 2, there’s a throwback episode to the original Turtles.
ROB PAULSEN: Yeah! Yeah, we get to have the original group back together. They got the band back together for an episode, so Townsend Coleman, who was Michelangelo, Barry Gordon, who was Donatello, Cam Clarke, who was Leonardo, and I was Raphael in the original show. They got us all together for an episode, and these guys make a quick appearance, but an appearance nonetheless, and it may set it up for doing some other cool stuff.

TOONZONE NEWS: Did you get to have a conversation with yourself during that episode?
ROB PAULSEN: I did, yeah! I think I said a couple of things to myself, which is kind of cool. The truth is that Don and Raph don’t sound all that much different from me anyway, but it was very cool. When Ciro Nieli said that we were going to do this episode, it was great fun just to hear the other guys do the Turtle stuff…it’s nostalgic for me, too. It’s great.

TOONZONE NEWS: Did you guys get to record all together?
ROB PAULSEN: No, unfortunately, we did not record all together because everybody’s got crazy schedules. But I heard them and I talked to them before we did it, and it was very cool.

TOONZONE NEWS: Do you know if the other cast members got to record? Were any of the older cast members able to record with the new cast? I remember how everybody was talking on your live podcast about how they grew up with the Turtles.
ROB PAULSEN: I’m not sure. Something tells me that they did, or maybe a couple of them did. Townsend and Cam, maybe. I’m honestly not sure. We all recorded the original shows together, and to this day, if that option is available, it’s always the better option. At least in my view, I’m much better when I’m around other good actors. They make me better, working with guys like Townsend and Cam and Barry, and Renae Jacobs or Pete Reneday or Pat Fraley and James Avery, and Jim Cummings…these really great actors, working with those guys all the time. They just made me better. it’s unfortunate that that doesn’t always happen because of scheduling conflicts, but the cool thing about doing animation is that you can still do the show and it can still be successful and well-done, even though everybody can’t be together. It’s not like doing a movie where you’ve got to re-light everything, and you can’t shoot a scene unless you have everyone. With the technology they have, it’s seamless, but from a selfish standpoint, it’s always nicer to have the other actors there. I prefer that.

Being that the current turtle cartoon is so good I think the OG/ Present Turtle reunion special may end up being better than Turtles Forever, and I really enjoyed that.

Whoopi Goldberg, Megan Fox, and a white Shredder? although it sounds strange I'm thinking it will turn out well.

This show is what's keeping my excitement of the franchise high, as much as the movie news brings me down

I bought the new game based on the Nickelodeon show for my twin boys yesterday. Tried to play it with them but couldn't get into it. Doesn't seem to be too good honestly. My boys love it though, all that matters, lol.

Can someone shed some light on Hal Rayle? How many episodes did he actually voice Raph? I was reading that he only voiced him on the European Vacation episodes or something.

My twin boys as Mike and Ralph for Halloween. Peep how my lil dude as Ralph is holding his sai's in the first pic :D .

I didn't expect my boys to love TMNT so much. They love it just as much as I did, probably even more. After I bought the Classic Collection figures and the Turtle Van DVD collection, for myself, it was wrap. Didn't plan on taking the figures out the packaging, but they snuck and did it to play with the little weapons, lol. But yeah, it's happening all over again, :D :pimp: .

^That's awesome, man. I just hope my kids will like all this stuff in the future too. Or at least, whatever interpretation of the franchise is out when he's of age
