Official TMNT thread, return of the classic giant figures

Therein lies the problem. What good's nostalgia if it craps on the fond memories you're basing it off of? I've always been open to "updates" for franchises and I gave each TF movie a serious shot and while one was decent, two and three were just the same cut & paste crap. TF4 looks to be the same and this movie already seems to follow that formula judging by the trailer.

What's so hard about using the source material you have to both satisfy the og fans, while drawing in new ones? Same with the X-Men franchise, it has such a rich history with so many stories you can use, but for whatever reason, the director seems to always do stuff "fans" get upset over just for the sake of bringing in casual movie goers.

Why can't they just go for the win-win and satisfy both fans and casual movie goers?
Yeah but which source material ? It's always weird fans complain about changes in a film but comic or what ever it's based on changes idk how many times ?

For TMNT, you can find elements both in the comic and og cartoon. For X-Men, same thing. There's really no changes to the comics, just constant evolution since the titles have been around for so long. All "fans" ask for are the stories they loved from the comic/cartoon brought to life, nothing more, nothing less. Not the bastardization that studios, M. Bay, are known for.

Just look at Marvel movies. All of their movies have stuck to the essence of what made their characterless popular in the first place and they're enjoying a lot of success and alot of people are very happy. I mean, the biggest complaint about Marvel movies is that Captain America doesn't have fish scales on his costume :lol:

X-Men, Transformers, and with what we've seen so far from the TMNT trailer and knowing M. Bay, the complaints will be about crummy plots with just eye candy for ~2 hours.

THe only real thing I'm bummed about is no Casey Jones.

And who exactly is Fichtner's Eric Sachs character and how is he related to Oroku Saki?

Lets just be thankful michael bay didnt put a penis on them
Dear God almighy, I hope this tidbit doesn't get back to Michael Bay. I mean, seriously, the guy put balls on "Devastator." Balls on a Transformer.. who the hell does that? I defend the heck out of Bay because I think the hate is overboard, but I had to shut the hell up after Revenge of the Fallen.

Lol how else is leo gonna smash april in this movie? Michael bay movies need a love story :lol:

Nah, that's why he introduces a new human character name Spike, a guy she grew up with that's back in town after being kicked out of the marine's (he saved his platoon by shooting a suicide bomber which accidentally levels a communications tower and the military makes him take the fall for it because he didn't listen to his orders to "hold fire"). A real bad boy fighting for the love interest on April O'Neil until he see's a mysterious green figure one night and now helps April get to the bottom of that.

So apparently Johnny Knoxville will be voicing Leonardo? Shalhoub as Splinter is a good choice but sucks for the other actors who played them physically I guess?

Johnny Knoxville, Tony Shalhoub Lend Voices To ‘Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles’

EXCLUSIVE: If the half-shell hero Leonardo sounds a bit like Bad Grandpa in the upcoming Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, and the half-pint sensei Splinter sounds like Monk, there’s good reason. Johnny Knoxville has just been added to voice the role of Leonardo, and Tony Shalhoub is voicing Splinter, the Yoda-like creature that teaches chop socky technique to the turtles. Now, Pete Ploszek played the role of Leonardo during the filming part, while Seinfeld‘s Danny Woodburn played Splinter. Insiders tell me they were always open to changing the voicing component of the Jonathan Liebesman-directed film that Paramount releases August 8, and those actors were only guaranteed to physically perform the roles in costume. But as it has proven with World War Z, G.I. Joe: Retaliation and Noah, Paramount also is a studio that isn’t reticent to adding ingredients to the souffle after it has risen, and right up to the point where it’s ready to be served.

That orchestral arrangement was pretty sweet pr0phecy718 pr0phecy718

I can kind of see this formula from Transformers being integrated into Bay's rendition of TMNT:

April = Sam
Vernon = Mikaela
Leonardo = Prime
Michelangelo = Bumblebee
Raphael = Ironhide
Donatello = Ratchet
Shredder = Megatron

i wish dude would remake Mortal Kombat, if he worked closely with Tobias and Boon.

Those are dope posters. It was a good choice not to put the faces in them. :lol:

Even if the movie is another hollow Michael Bay fare that isn't faithful to the source, the posters will be cool.
