hey NT, i your help.

so i'm taking my road test very soon to obtain my driver's license..

i'm taking my test at the DMV in Vallejo, CA if that matters.. what will happen during the testing process? will the test include parallel parking, goingon the freeway, etc? is it advisable to be familiar with the area?

this is my first time taking it and the thought of the test just makes me nervous! any tips to offer?

thanks in advance!

They haven't require you to go on the freeway or parallel park for years now. When I took my behind the wheel test back in '02, it was the normalstuff...drove, change lanes, left turn, right turn, and park on the street. The instructor will measure how far you're away from the curb to see ifit's within the legal limit. Make sure to over act everything, ie looking behind when you're switching lanes.

When you have to stop, stop longer then necessary. Its quite easy, just maintain composure and think about what your doing before you do it.

my test was just driving 1block around the dmv area then back into the parking lot, from there just drive into a lane and back out.

took like 10min

they dont do parallel parking.

if you cant pass this then you really shouldnt be driving...

If you fail this time try to get a lunchtime test next time. The worker last time in Oakland just made me drive around the block once because she was hungry.

your name looks familiar.

I gotta question too, when I was a sophmore in HS they required me to take drivers ed class for a whole quarter in class, after that you would go after schoolto drive in the parking lot at 3mph

and learning to park and a whole bunch of bs and after 5 weeks of that you had to do two days of driving (like realdriving. for like 1 hour straight for two days) and if you passed that they would give you some certificate so that you wouldnt have to take the test at theDMV. I lost mine so I had to take it

but do they not make yall do drivers ed in school? if so

my sister failed her test in Vallejo cause she didn't stop before the line at the railroad tracks.

So watch out for that

i'm in the same boat as you
bluexsneakerhead

just overdue your looks, like when changing lanes exaggerate them turning left right excetera, just to show the instructor you be looking.
and make sure you know the intersections, if it's two-way, four-way. my friend messed up on a two way stop sign. and got automatic fail for endangerment.and also watch out for sirens.
just be aware of everything going on. relax, but not too much, stay at the speed limit, don't do anything illegal, basic %@!.
and like base the position of your car to the left more because if you're too much on your right, the instructor might get scurred. make him/her feel safe.
if you've been driving alot with your permit you should be fine.
oh and theres a part, i think where you back up in a residential street or something like that. so make sure your backing up skills are on point.

Good luck.

My friend called me while I was taking my test and I answered and didn't fail.

Can someone clear this up for me. If you're 18 then you dont need a permit to take the drivers test right?

You need your permit to get you license I think? But yeah you just need to do these things.

  • Relax and stay focused.
  • Don't panic, when you panic your most likely to fail the test.
  • Scan with your head looking left and right.
  • Drive within the limit.
  • Stop where the stop lines are.
