Thinking of moving to hawaii

McCully, Makiki (certain parts), Moilili, Kaimuki and Kapahulu are relatively good convenient areas to live in.

If you're going for school you might as well live in town anyway. If you're into ocean sports and outdoorsy things it's good. Not so much for people into clubbing and stuff.

Kailua ppl are kinda snobby too but I think that goes for most places populated by upper middle and upper class people (most of which didn't grow up in Hawaii) but there are always exceptions. Stay humble and you won't get beat up by a big local person but even that's not for sure. The race thing isn't bad but as always there are places you should be more aware of your surroundings and/or culturally sensitive to if you don't look like a local.

You're moving there without anyone have been there before? Craziness.
ahh I drive through traffic everyday (takes me an 2 hours to drive 25 miles) anyway besides the traffic ewa looks dope... and naw I have neverbeen neither have my boys but F IT!!

Yo i was born and raised there. The beach is a everyday thing. Air-con is a must have during summer time, but you get used to it after a while. KICKZ/HI hasmostly SB's and general releases. Once in a while they have some limited #+*... Yet try out In4mation for some gear. OH DAMN!!! Zippy's chili is bombgo there and Genki sushi. Oh try looking up Boulevard Saimin if you go to Oahu. Its by my place. (warning: pretty ghetto area, but the Ramen and Udon noodlesare the best. Just dont go during night time. Its by Kalihi area, if you got some hawaiian friends they should know bruddah.)

FYI: You are gonna pick up the local pigeon accent after 6 months or so

dont do it i know people who are waiting to get out of the island theyre waiting to sell their house and moving to nyc or la
honolulu is only chill to visit... you cant be hitting up the beach daily if you live there you gotta get a job

Thanks will do ... Im not really the club type but aye I will give anything a try.. anymore spots like kicks/hi and in4mants?

Theres a place called Aloha Army, sells all kinds of streetware. Uhm alot of outlets, DFS galleria. Which island ?

Just do it. Lived there for 4.5 yrs and I miss it every single day.
Of course my time was on the gov'ts dime so it wasn't as expensive.
Only move to Ewa if you have too, traffic does suck. Especially when army cranes knock down foot bridges over the the H1 and close the highway for hours.
Gov't jobs are everywhere, and if you work on base you get some privileges such as tax free shopping and so forth.
When you get there, hit up Kuru Kuru and have a mix bowl if you like sushi.

Fitted is across from Ala Moana Shopping Center also. They sell hats and stuff.

Kind of feel silly recommending spots like that since it's a lot of stuff probably easier to find in most metro mainland cities.

You were warned about Ewa so don't complain if you don't like it. I live near Aloha Stadium and can't stand the traffic. Can't imagine how badit it out there.

Eventually there's supposed to be a rail being built but knowing the government who knows?

Akasaka, Yanagi Sushi and Shokudo are good for Japanese foods. Pietros is good too if you like sort of Italian fusiony food.
Obviously some good Chinese places in Chinatown/Downtown despite the sketchy people lurking.

Dunno but expect it to be ridiculous. I was paying 1225 a month for 2 bedroom apt in Ewa Beach.
smh.gif

But, I got tons of extra pay living off base when I was there

Chinatown/Downtown is on the up when it comes to bars. Great scene, great music, people may be a bit pretentious, but going to the waikiki/ala moana area barsgets old

Definitely check out Yohei sushi too...and that spot in the old Harpo's building that just opened is legit if you're willing to let the chef (Yuji)pick the sushi for you.

Zippy's is a must, especially after long nights out.

I was there when that happened...luckily I was already at work.

Anyway I lived in Hawaii for 3yrs...by the 2nd year it was time to go. It didn't help that I couldn't stand my job. The only thing that kept me sanewhile living there was the food and the weather. H-1=
