Those are good wages yo. Thats why I want to be a stock clerk at the grocery store I work at when I turn 18. Manual labor is fun to me and you get paid prettywell too.

I've been working for UPS the past 2 months now and I love the job. I currently make $15.98 an hour as a driver's helper usually working 4 days a week , and my supervisor told me he would get me inside on the Preload shift, and Icould start driving by the summer.
To anyone who's considering UPS for a career I would say go for it. If you wish to move into Management or Package Car the salaries and benefits for bothare great, but you do start at the the bottom doing the slave work because with UPS seniority is everything.

I'm going on a tour on the 21st but I was told I couldn't wear gym shoes

this isnt really guaranteed.. youll probably have 20 other people in your orientation and theyll probably only have 7 come back for an interview..sometimes they do the interview right there in another room one by one... but only a few can come back for training.. just wear some old boots .. then buysomething comfortable when you get hired.Originally Posted by NothinAfter

well i wore a button up shirt with a tie.. i thought it was one on one type of thing.. but after seeing people and what they wore.. id say jus wear a collarshirt or long sleeve collar shirt pants and boots.. but u can actually wear what ever you want. i seen dude wear a white tee, cargo shorts high top boots andgot hired. if you get an interview and they ask you " would you have any problems taking a drug test without notice? " just say it wouldnt be aproblem, matter a fact i can take one right now if you guys need me to.. (even if you smoke weed or any other substance) .. when is aid that.. i didnt eventake a drug test.. i just went straight to training the next day.

no, orientation all you have to do is listen, they talk about the job for th emost part.. and interview is basic.. why you want this job, why are you a goodcandidate from the other 20 people.. etc.

so basically when you are scheduled an appointment, thats like a group orientation/tour of the place? and among the number of ppl who show up, only X amount ofthem will get interviews? and u already gotta wear boots? why would you have to wear boots if you don't even have the job yet... i aint tryna cash out forsome boots if i might not even get the job...
but damn i was talkin to my patna from HS, he started as a package handler and after a few months became a supervisor...

i used to work at ups for close to 2 years. started as a package handler/scanner then moved to the irreg cart which is a 1$ raise. basically you drive aroundthe building picking up packages to heavy or big for the conveyor belt. after that i moved to the sort isle while getting another dollar raise. then tosupervisor where starting pay was 23.75. once a supervisor you no longer have the union behind you.

If I recall, training is about 2 weeks. The first week, you're in the classroom most of the time and they'll have you out in the hub for about 30-60minutes a day. The second week, you'll be out in the hub with a trainer. They just show you the ropes and stuff.

I used to work at UPS. you better be ready for it cause the first few weeks are tough. I started off loading trailers then moved to pickoff, then to the areaslide. The slide was non stop packages in my face all night long but it was fun!

its tough, but once you get into the union( after ur 1 month probation period) your itll get easier since you dont really have to follow the rulesas far as load stands and turning off the belts etc..( loading) i step on packages all the time to reach the top even when i was under probabtion.. just dontget caught

its better to wear boots, it shows them that u are serious and ready to work.. but i mean you dont have to wear it.. but imo it gives u a betterchance of employment.. and as far as being a supervisor and +#+$.. its real easy.. u can fill out the management papers and become a supervisor and ortrainer.. it jus depends if they want you to fill that position.. or if anything else opens up./.. the only con about it is that you wont be union and can getfired on the spot.. and you have more responsibilities as far as you having to control you employees and gettin the right packages to the right trailers..about a week or two ago.. there was a supervisor who loaded all kinds of missorts in the wrong trailer and sent to off to the wrong state.. dude got fired onthe spot.rip.
