What a difference 10 years make huh. Anyways..... what are some of your personal favs from that year, which albums do you deem classic and which are still inrotation to this day.

Its funny because I remember 99 being the main year people started declaring hip-hop was dying, especially when Cash Money started taking over...it was the dawn of the Bling-Bling era. No Limit was doing it big that year to.Originally Posted by NuMba1KiCkrocka

That's my bad for forgetting Internal Affairs but Soundbombing II was too much of a compilation album to be anything special to me. Ihaven't listned to it in ages though I'll be honest.Originally Posted by MidEastBeast

Internal Affairs, Soundbombing II are "not very good albums" or "trash" ?

'99 looks better on paper than it actually was at the time...some of those albums I bought just off GP and they were borderline wack (Immobilarity, Beneath the Surface, N' Please)...

I didn't have ANY kind of job/income yet I still managed to scrap some cash together to run to the record store and buy ALL of these albumsthe day they came out. Matter of fact, I copped that Lil Wayne, Pharoae Monch and Jay-Z 2 or three times.
Now, I don't even have the urge to go buy albums and I got the money in my pocket...
I still remember going to the store to cop that Volume 3. December 28, 1999. It was cold as !$%% outside. I went to my dudes house afterward cause he had thebig speakers at his crib

I'm a little biased 'cuz GZA is{was} my favorite out the Wu, and maybe my hopes were too high after "Liquid Swords"
Same can be said for alot of these albums, NaS', Raekwon's, DMX's, Meth/Red etc. Had high hopes for them but overall was let down.
