Is It A Stretch To Say Dre 3000 Is Better Than Nas? Why?

Someone explain the Pip/Gladys Night line, $*%% never made sense to me. I read Great Expectations a long, long, time ago.

Oh I guess i was looking too deep into it

I don't know why I was thinking Charles Dickens

Obviously I've heard of Gladys Night and the Pips, otherwise I would have asked what does "glad is night" mean

that's why that *$#* is so funny to me, for two years I've subconsciously thought the line had something to do with Great Expectations, i justnever gave it much thought.

I guess it was because he's referred to Charles Dickens before

I can tell the dudes arguing about Nas and Pharoahe aren't up on their game ... Both are LEGENDS !

3k is a dope MC aswell nonetheless

Why do u cats foolishly argue stuff yall know nothing about ?

I'm so like a Pip, I'm Glady's Knight (glad it's night), so the sun would not burn me on my bum....

3000 is a lyrical deity, ya'll are sleeping.

I think Nas is great, but I think Big Boi and Dre are the most underappreciated lyrisits in the game. The young/old heads (25-30) for the most part knowwhat's up, but many of the younger heads are clueless to their greatness

On to Nas vs. Dre...their styles are so polar opposite it's hard to compare their greatness. Nas has more of a gutter, grimey type flow whereas Dre hasa more lighthearted flow. Nas' stories/flows equate The Wire vs. Dre's flows are more reminisent to Harlem Nights. The content in both are great andboth are classic, but difficult to compare imo. Dre seems to have been more relevant over the years, but I think that is a result of the ability of Outkast tocrossover. Other ethnic groups seem to be not as willing to follow Nas because of some of the darker undertones associated with his music. Some of it has todo with production too. Outkast beats have better playability than Nas.

Nas and Dre FTW!

and people like rap for different reasons - if you enjoy rappers who talk about moving pyramids with their mind and blah blah, cool

i prefer emcees i can 1. relate to or 2. have unique creativity ( which are the andre 3ks or phonte's of the game)

Andre produces as well - he is earthtone 3 if you didnt know -

well andre raps about spaceships

Spaceships dont come equipped with rearview mirrors
They dip as quick as they can
The atmosphere is now ripped
Im so like a Pip, Im glad its night
So the light from the sun would not burn me on my bum
Yea thats a metaphor for not looking back

Pharoh actually just raps about Pyramids
what song has Monch ever rapped about a Pyramid?

Exactly, dudes speaking out of their **# now

when i mentioned pyramids, i was talking about vinnie p and all them

and dude posted they spaceship line, like he couldnt see thru the metaphor LOL ...

what i'm talking about, is rappers literally rapping about pyramids and stuff with no metaphor in sight

"Exactly, dudes speaking out of their **# now"

Sort of like you in the eminem thread... go figure

Vinnie p never rapped about pyramids. He's said the word "pyramids" once in his entire discography (9 albums and numerous guest features). He hadsome "mystical" rhymes on his first album and ONLY his first album, then one song where he mentioned pyramids once with Killah Priest. Rest has been

We are talking about Monch now, and the point is Dre isn't seeing Monch lyrically period.

and about the em thread.. what's good with 9 pages and 150+ posts but no one can come up with an em verse as good as the one from Paz, Eso or Virtuoso ?Not a good look for someone who is "better".

Andre 3k is better than Monch... you not gonna convince me otherwise and vice versa

The pyramids i was talking about vinnie p and all the others, not monch , just to clear things up

^and I just replied to that.

Show me anything Dre has done that is touching Monch on Stress: The Extinction Agenda

^LOL - dude if you read, you'd know, aint no convincing me diff. and vice versa

i listen to rap i can relate to with unique creativity

you like good rap, but mostly you on that psycho, mind trippin, political Imoortal @#$, whic is cool... but if you like vinnie p as one of the best, theni'm not trying to get in a rap argument what "that type of rap fan"

If you want some good Dre - youtube - "Aquemini" the song not the album and one of my favorite lines " harder than a N trying to impressGOD"

You see with Andre, its the complete package, he makes good tracks, good music... Monch and all them other dudes create good verses but bad songs

I like songs over 1 good 16

Peace

laugh.gif
@ you stay tryna label what I listen to as "psycho, mind trippin, political Imoortal @#$" when that's like 10% of what I listen too.

Monch makes bad songs ? word ?

Both his solo albums been fire. Anyway, like you said, we aren't convincing each other. I like Andre 3k too

^i like jmt album, that canibis is on ... i like monch

but that desire album just was okay - seems with alot of the rappers in that genre, its forced hooks and beats that make you cringe (not all the time)
