Downtown or Suburbs? To choose a NEW APARTMENT

So I need your opinion. I am looking to move. I am currently in a suburb of Atlanta and want to move into the city.
I currently pay 700 a month plus utilities in rent and have a 15 minute commute to work.
I am looking to move downtown which would cost me 770 a month total, with a 30 minute commute to work.
What do you think?

Oh yeah. Rent in the South>Anywhere else.

NT do you like living downtown or in the burbs?

i'd rather live downtown, but that's just me.

you can walk outside and hit up the corner store right across the street.
walk to restaurants, etc.

love the downtown vibe in cities

I like living in the Burbs and going into town personally.
Atlanta was nice a quiet when I was in Midtown.

It depends on you... are you an outgoing person or a homebody? I would prefer the suburbs because I like the quiet, peaceful area. Out here in SoCal I used towork in downtown LA and traffic in noon-rush hour time would make me kill people. Suburbs.

DownTown Chicago Apts go for around $1500-$2000 for a 1 BR joint...$770 would be a DREAM COME TRUE

Damn right

If you don't mind the commute & the extra $70, want to move to the city, and outgoing, I would say move downtown.

Myself, I would rather live downtown. Love the city life.

I find myself driving downtown at least 3-4 days a week. And canceling on people when I don't feel like driving. I mean I am 40 minutes outside of the cityright now. I think I am going to take it.

I lived not in downtown mpls but a couple of miles from downtown proper. then I moved to the burbs

I'm moving back ASAP

But in my case, I'd be paying less. If this apartment deal pans out; 650 plus electricity. 800 sq ft, not huge more thanenough for the 2 of us. hate the damn burbs. I miss Uptown. Its a pain finding a place though.

Who you telling. I been looking since Sept for something in my budget. I want to save for a house so I didn't want to pay much. Walked in anddude was like this is the last one. No joke. I peeped his availability sheet when he walked off to see if he was Bs'in me.

I HAAAAATE it! Hate hate hate.


Ok I love that everything is within 1 mile but damn. It doesn't feel like home. It's just the burbs. Theres no life or vibe to this area. I meanI'm a 20 minute ride on the 6 from the old stomping grounds but eh. Plus, the joint accepts dogs so I can get a puppy

and it's a couple blocks fromthe lakes.

There was a couple of places in loring park and stevens square area but I don't want to be that close to 94. I'm a quarter mile away atleast but I canstill hear 494 when the windows are open.

Most of the places in Uptown are owned by one management company and they dont take dogs

1 of 2 requirements, take dogs and have hardwood floors. I hatecarpet.

I do. I just grew up/my mom lives in St. Anthony Main. Right across the river from downtown.
