did you get a blinking folder with a question mark when you would try to start your macbook? cause this happend to me once. what i did was buy a new harddrive, reinstalled mac os x, then i took the bad harddrive made it external, then i used diskwarrior to recover my stuff from the bad harddrive.
how do i take the bad harddrive and make it external?

try an adapter such as any of these for a USB 2.0 to IDE or SATA connection. the industry is suffering because they put out a poor product, and they refuse to deliver that poor product in a format consumers want. its justlike the auto industry, they can adapt or go under. besides, record companies have been robbing consumers for decades by putting out multiple greatest hitsalbums and reissues of existing content. if youre concerned about your favorite artist making a living, go to a show when they tour.

i have tinnitus, and i can still tell the difference a lot of the time. the real difference kicks in when you compare mp3 to lossless.

those adapters didnt work for me i ended going down to my local indoor swapmeet and got one of These and it got the job done. have you tried booting up with your os x disk? cause you can also try to repair your harddrive using disk utility. http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1417http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1417go down to where it says try disk utility and follow the steps.

^ yea i tried booting from the startup disk and repairing through disk utility, but no dice....so i just toss my old HD into that enclosure and usb it to mymacbook and copy the files?

did disk utility at least recognize the harddrive? cause if it didnt then you might be out of luck. but yeah put it in the enclosure and after youinstall os x to the new HD, buy
wink.gif
andinstall the diskwarrior program and connect the old HD and have diskwarrior try and repair it. it might not fully repair it but it will give you access to thebad HD and all the files its recovered and at that point just copy all the files asap.

Lost all my music last spring so I feel you

Took me a couple of months to get most of the music back.

Not only that, if it weren't for the internet and the ability for me to download tracks for free and listen, 90% of the stuff i listen to iwould have never even heard of, so i wouldn't have bought the **!@ anyway. Besides, i still go out and buy hard copies when i feel the material is goodenough.
