2pac overrated???? YOUR THOUGHTS!!!!

No way is he overrated. Okay so he is not the best lyricist ever but this is not #%$*+!% poetry, its music, and music entails more than just lyrics. It entailslyrics, flow, delivery, emotion, message. So what if pac wasn't a thug his whole life, that does not change his music. And pac did not recycle materialconstantly, dude was versatile as hell. As a rap artist, I think he was the best to ever do it

Ok, jokes over. Stop with this overrated b.s.

This is gettin wild.

2pac is tops all time. His singles alone are better than almost every other rapper's library.

SMH and I told myself I wasn't going to do this anymore..

Overrated? No.

It's all based on opinions.

We all have them.

Jay-Z is the most overrated. That's MY opinion.

Peace

pac and biggie are overrated
I agree............. They did not even make the best records of their time period. So how are they the greatest of all time?

COSIGN. I don't know why I keep coming back and getting into these kind of threads

. Is Pac overrated? Maybe by some, but
laugh.gif
at dudes saying he'swhack and that he's not lyrical BS
laugh.gif
. Lyrical does not mean only using metaphors. Pac always came with that real %!++ and you could feel his emotion. Hekept it simple but got his message out through his LYRICS AND EMOTION/PASSION. I don't care if you like him or not, but he's whack? If he's whack,so is 99% of the game

.

IMHO, Pac was a great rapper but OVERRATED as a person. Its ridiculous when people compare him to the likes of Bro. Rev. Martin Luther King Jr., Malcom X,etc...

Some of it depends on just your personal opinion on what you want out of your music/MC. You want someone who's going to wow you with punchlines,inter-rhyming, metaphors, etc. but don't really have much to say at the end of the day? Or you want someone who might be fugazi at times, might behipocritical, but spends a lot of time spitting about real topics, stuff w/ a deeper meaning or that can mean more to people than just 16 bars?

Very few have mastered the ability to do both.

Man if 2Pac is wack then Nas is the worst rapper of all time. I can't believe that people who even consider saying that, it seems as though since LilWayne's popped onto the seen, people got the heart to talk reckless about the pioneers of the rap game.

I must admitt Pac was a far better poet than what his rap lyrics displayed. But I put him in my top 5.

If it is its only because of all these salty #@$ East Coast catsthat think they music is made by God himself. Nobody can even come close to making good music if the person isn't from somewhere in the East.

I like some of his stuff. But I never got into his flow. I have like ~20 songs on my iPod and iTunes. But other than that I could never get into his stuff. Oneof my coworkers who's a bit older than me, 29, let me borrow all his Pac albums because he's a hardcore fan and grew up on his stuff. But I just neversaw or heard the appeal. He has some songs that are really real, but I don't know, maybe I just don't see consistency going from album to album thatothers do. But it probably has to do with my East Coast/NYC biased that I have since I grew up here. But then again I hate 95% of NY rap now except someunderground stuff like Joell. I def respect him for what he meant to Hip Hop tho.

he is definitely overrated. no where near the greatest, he was average at his best. i used to be one of those people who though he was the greatest until ireally started getting into rap and listening to more and much better artists.

Lyrically Pac was average at best to be honest.
So in that regard he was lackluster. However his ability to evoke emotion throughout the track via flow and voice was impeccable.
He is on of my favorite rappers but I honestly would not consider him one of the best Rappers.
There is a difference.

I wouldn't say overrated...and i don't even mess with Pac like that but you can't say he's not one of the best all time

I don't feel that Tupac was overrated. What I do feel that sucks is that with his mom and others still releasing material that probably would've neverseen the light of day had he lived makes some people say "What's so great about him?" "What's so great about that?".
People can say he recycled, but what rapper that has had longevity hasn't done that? I guess what I give Tupac is that at least he recycled things that HEcame up with.....you can't really say that about certain other dudes that have that "GOAT" title bestowed upon them. I'm not trying to makethis an age thing, but people who rate Tupac in magazines and on forums like this make me wonder how old they were when he was still alive and kicking. Idon't take offense to anything because everyone is entitled to their own opinions, but to me, Me Against The World is one of the greatest Hip Hop/RapCD's ever. As good as some Tupac enthusiasts make All Eyez on Me and Makaveli out to be, I prefer Me Against The World.....the other 2 seem to be moreDeath Row than Tupac himself (especially All Eyez On Me). I do feel that he was one of the greatest....how can he not be? Is B.I.G overrated?? I don'tthink so, but an argument can be made because he only had two bodies of work and a host of cameo appearances before he got murdered. Is Jay-Z overrated? A niceamount of work, but he's recycled lines from both 2pac and B.I.G as well as many others including a lot of East Coast rappers before his listeningpublic's time, and I don't think I'm alone in saying that since he came back with Kingdom Come, he's had a few good songs, but it seems to methat he only sounds like old Jay when he's on cameos, and only certain people bring that out of him.

To me, the greatests in no order......

Tupac
B.I.G
Jay-Z
Nas
LL Cool J
Scarface
Ice Cube
Snoop Dogg
Too Short
Kool G Rap
etc etc etc.

He was average at best lyrically. His selling point was his emotion on the track and his passion. With that being said, he still dont it for me.

Overrated was a compliment for this guy. He was a VERY bright young man don't get me wrong, but I think Hip-Hop wasn't his right outlet.

Honestly, I don't know anyone who has EVER said this dude is/was the greatest emcee ever. You would have to be a fool to think this guy was the nicest everwith the wordplay.

But I do know folks that have said he's the greatest hip-hop artist ever. And with that, I agree. The guy's legacy stands for itself.

of course yo! theres ppl walking around claiming to be tupac fans and they havent heard changes smh.
