I'm realizing that music is all BS. I've tried everything to get out, making songs that sound just like things out, making songs that sound different, making everything. I'm an r&b dude as some of you might know, I've been at this for quite some time but I think I'm reaching my breaking point. The industry is set up in such a way that artists who have grinded their !!*%# to get to the point they're at won't throw a bone to people the same waypeople might have thrown a bone to them back in the day. I feel in no way below any of the artists out or any of the artists on the come up. And so I getannoyed when I hear hypocritical signed artists saying how they are down for helping fellow musicians out but then turn the other cheek when the opportunityarises. Point blank, it comes down to how many listeners you can get, and at this point I cant figure out how 2 do that so i decided to make a post straight upasking people to open the post lol.

Anyway, here are new tracks. Produced by NT's Nemesis. I'm tryin to hit what I feel is every subgenre of r&b so theres something for everyone -honestly, if u think it's hot, send it and post it wherever you want.

G. Sharma - Way 2 U (Prod. byNemesis)
...rhythmic club, dance

G. Sharma - Tremblin' (Prod.by Nemesis)
...slow jam-rock experiment

G. Sharma - Insomnia (Prod. byNemesis)
...generic, t-pain autotune track (hot, tho)

I got more if people like em.

I digs Way 2 U, my girl says it reminds her of that Akon joint though. "Girl you know that you need to stop." That one. You and Team Scene should doanother track.

the first joint is tough... the 2nd is hott too.... the 3rd is trash

I feel you on the frustration tip... Im not really frustrated cuz I havent released too much music but in the next month or so im hitting the world with like45 - 50 songs... Gotta do shows , pass out CDs, be your OWN street team if need be.. dont give up ... Im gonna get signed off my my merit

Don't get frustrated. If you believe you have something to bring to music, you'll get there.

But YOU have to have something. Don't make "songs that sound just like things out".

To keep it real, some artists can be unrealistic about themselves. Of course they're supposed to believe in themselves. But you also need to knowwhat's up. But if you think your music can truly work in today's market, then keep going if you can.

It's hard for a new artist to break right now. Economy is #$+@. Everyone is scared for their jobs. Not a ton of risk taking right now.

And remember, talent alone won't get you there. Make sure you are on your business. Hustling, being visible, promoting, shaking hands, politicing etc.

Wasn't Jay-Z like 30 when he got on? He'd been grinding for years with no success. Keep working, find your lane and if you put in the work and it'smeant to be, it'll happen.

Good luck.

I'm no know it all but from what I've heard from a couple folks I know trying to make it that when you're trying to get noticed there's twothings to do.

1.) Make good music and

2.) Get good management

And they go hand in hand. A good manager isn't gonna take wack music and push it, so the better your music, the better your management. Keep grinding.

And do COLLABS! That gets your voice out to different circles of people! Hint-Hint!!

I like what I'm hearing, "Way 2 U" is hot but it needs more energy. I'm listening to it and NOTHING is standing out, besides the beat. Nohate, the quality, lyrics and melody and wordplay are where they need to be, good job. But if you're making a club track...N_ make a CLUB track for thehook have a break or melody or lyric or sound or effect on your voice SOMETHING that's memorable. Remember the demographic for a CLUB track. Makea track everyone can sing along to and get happy about when it comes on.

Tremblin is dope tho

Haven't listened to the third one yet.

With that said you're one of the better artists on NT and Nemesis laced them *#!*!

DON'T GIVE UP. It's when we feel that we are can't take anymore that we are closest to success. Endeavor on and don't let yourself focus on thenegative, focus on why you started doing this : because you love music and you want to share that love with people. Getting paid comes 2nd, but it also comesnaturally when you give as a service. God bless.

I feel you on some of the frustration, G, but you can't let it just end the dream.

You got a talent that 90% of this country doesn't have. Just remember that *!#$. You grinded out multiple tracks in one night, man. That's gotta countfor somethin' and show some sort of skill. As artists, we all have our ups and downs, but it's how you handle it that shows how serious you are aboutthe long-term goal. I like the way you mixed these songs for not havin' the tracked out beats, but I see you didn't get my message from a week or soago with the "final" version of "Insomnia." Hit me on AIM to see what you think. I'm assuming you just been battling the frustrationover the last few days, so just shoot me a message whenever, my man. I hope nothin' went downhill with your L.A. plans, which in turn caused this thread.

Thank you for those who posted with any sort of feedback. I think it just fuels my creativity for the next session and makes me strive to come up withsomethin' even better. Like somebody else said, G, a lot of these artists aren't breaking into the mainstream until they're like mid to late 20s,at least. We're just a couple young'ns with a ton of time on our hands. Take a deep breath and continue forward. Don't let the frustration andnegativity bring you back a few steps. Stay up.

just some common sense tips i can suggest...

the game done changed...i was gravedigging my old XXL issues and they did a breakdown of the industry and how it's going..

Performance is the way to go. That's why artists are so opposed to 360 deals where labels get a piece of everything including tour $ which is the artistsbread and butter....i've been on the scene where cats like Theophilus London and Mickey Factz been tearing up venues...no "real" albums out butthey got that cult following and brand loyalty. You gotta think about your brand and what your wow factor is. i'm more on the marketing side so that'sone of the first things i look for in an act.

Then when you perform, you could revenue and the crowds to possibly show a major that you're worth signing.

I've been inside major labels and I honestly wouldnt suggest signing unless you have some sort of leverage like metrics (things you can measure like crowdsor revenue brought in from shows)...cuz they will have you even more frustrated in Artist Development and your advance is essentially a loan that you'renot even sure that will hold you down till/if you even end up putting a record out.

[Joey] The game's fixed anyway, ask Tim Donaghy [Joey]

If u aren't a gimick, u will not get signed. I've seen more dudes get exposure durin the "Crank Dat" era than ever before. Gimmicks arewhat's in the industry now. U don't even gotta have real talent. U can fake it til u make it. Those that have true talent need to stop foolin w/ majorlabels and go indie. Money should not be the objective. Makin good music should be tho. Those that wanna be a singer or rapper for money will go nowhere.

Not say that is u OP, but think about startin ya own label and get a strong team. Hell, even NT should start a label, a serious label.

^ exactly. and its messed up but that's how the game is now. dont even get me started on ringtone rappers.

i'm down to do marketing/promo/A&R for the NT label lol

Real talk, what kinda connects you got...?

I'd most certainly be down to get a few of us out there a little (lot) more.

I'm still in touch with a Senior A&R of Legacy Records @ Sony BMG and some other A&Rs @ Legacy Records, which was among Sony's biggest cashcows. she broke my proverbial cherry in the game. also cool with the Senior VP of Marketing @ Def Jam...

i'm leaning towards doing my own company thing...i'm coming to realize that the game is coming full circle and that these majors are gonna be the onesmissing out. Some of em dont know how to market artists properly and some of these A&Rs are terrible @ helping choose beats/impact singles.

We just had a huge split with a potential client because they wanted to release a single as a ringtone...with no label deal, no promotional team behind them(cuz we backed the hell off) and no name. it's part of the game but it's extremely asinine.

wow... sorry i was out the last couple days and wasn't even sure if anyone responded hah. but yeah, i mean i guess whats frustrated me the most is thatthough i'm making music i love, i feel as if its also very commercially viable in todays market. i also feel that in a time where indian media is startingto mix more and more w/ american media (movies: bollywood mixing w/ hollywood eg. slumdog millionaire, music: cash money just signed a huge European indian rnbdude named jay sean) the time has never been better for an artist like me and i wanted to break barriers but i cant figure out what i'm doing wrong. youknow?

i wanted to also post this one chorus i did some some dude a lil while back that no one has really heard cuz i havent even heard the actual song yet, but itsbeen something i was real happy about when i made. the bg vocals are actually the main vocals played in reverse and the harmonies actually sound kinda sick.

I was about to come in here and tell you that UPS is hiring.

But your music is kind of tough.

As others have said, if you are in it for the music, just keep making quality material.

You may not ever reach star status, but you've gotta keep on grinding.

Keep your head up.
