NT Yuku Complaint Thread. - Page 23
^^ Im using firefox right now and all the avy are 100x100. The girl is jeri lee btw. funny thing, i had transformer avy and houstonrockets sig before the change, but it went to my previous avy that i havent used in like 2 years.
I knew who that was... I was just trying to emphasize my point .
Jeri Lee is NICE by the way !!!!
Former avy of mine:
i hate how the number of the last page of the thread doesnt changes to red color when now posts are made, it remains grey color until a new page is formed
It's a fair trade, though.
On the old board, if you ever clicked on a fast moving post and went in to read replies, if you hit refresh that page would NOT update. You'd get taken to reply 27, for example, even though five posts had been added since then. Now, if you refresh the thread, you'll see all the new replies that have been added WITHOUT having to go back to the front page and click the page number again - just to get the URL to stop at 35 instead of 27 - and the process repeats itself.
If you're really intent on following a thread from start to finish over an extended period of time, now you can use an RSS subscription to do so and have all the replies delivered straight to your preferred newsreader.
All you have to do is retrain yourself. Go to the last GRAY number and you'll catch up on the last replies on that page. You're scared now because it's different. In a few weeks it'll be second nature. There are concrete advantages to the way Yuku handles it, though, and if you understand what those are hopefully you can appreciate the new format for what it is, rather than what it isn't.
No, it's not ezboard. That's a GOOD thing.

Yeah, that's the default image that came with the board. It's functional. It goes with our existing color scheme.
Changing it is not exactly at the top of our priorities list re: Yuku, but if you guys can produce one that's universally adored we'll use it.
Then everyone can sit around and nitpick your contributions. That'll be fun.
Now that we don't have all 50 pages of a popular topic strewn across the page, it's slightly more difficult to immediately discern which topics are attracting the most responses. So, there's a little icon.
It's a default feature. The only way I can even turn it "off" is to set the threshold to from 200 replies to, say, 2,000,000 replies - if it'll even allow that.
The truth of the matter is that there's clearly a difference between caviling and legitimate issues with the new platform. This week, we're focused on the legitimate issues. Many of the trivial gripes people have with the new platform will fade as they become accustomed to the site's slight facelift. The funny thing is, the average person who visits NikeTalk only occasionally can't even tell the difference. In talking to people in the real world about this, this response was typical: "it's like nothing changed - but the site is better." I'm on the site virtually every day. I've been here before the place even opened to the public in December of 1999. I know the platform pretty well. I'm familiar with what changed in front of and behind the scenes.
Considering we're on a completely new platform, that we migrated the entire site to a new board, the visual changes are so incredibly minor. Imagine what would've happened if we'd moved, instead, to a vbulletin product on an independent host. Everyone would have to register again. None of the posts would be kept. We'd have to build the skin ourselves from the ground up, and it wouldn't be remotely similar. Compare ezboard to any platform created in this past decade (2000 forward) and you have to admit its obvious inferiority. The thing was archaic. It's a miracle we squeezed as much life out of it as we did.
We were slated to arrive on Yuku a full year ago. We missed that window and everyone gave us hell and questioned our credibility. I vowed to get us on a new platform by the end of the year - even if it meant leaving ezboard - and we lived up to that promise.... and yet we're still showered with criticism for it.
So, it's obvious that we would attract complaints quite literally NO MATTER WHAT we did. As such, you'll excuse me if it's of minor importance that you don't like the HOT TOPICS ICON after 4 days of use.

I can't see NTers avys' in their original size anymore. I want to see ^ Drunken Cow's avy but the 100x100 is too small.
If you don't know what I'm talking about and you're a FireFox user, I used to just drag the avy I'd like to see enlarged into another tab... then it'll show the picture in it's original size. I can't do it on Yuku's version of NT because it's just a link to the dang user's profile .
You still have the ability to view the image on its own (right-click image>view image), just not in its original size. Yuku automatically resizes every still image into a 100 X 100 image regardless of its original size. You'll just have to live not being able to get a closer look at someone's avatar.
You can always ask them for the original image via PM if you really can't live w/o seeing it.
but that arrow gets defeated if there's a temp. icon there.... can't adjust that for us?
Look at the legend at the bottom of the topic listing page in any forum, there's a different hot topic icon for a hot topic with new replies.
Not too many complaints here, just a question. How do you resize the emoticons???
Click on an image in your post editor and drag the boxes to resize it.
It's useful for photos, obnoxious with emoticons. Oh wow! That stoneface is HUGE! LOLZORS!! You must REALLY be unimpressed! That's SO COOL - way more effective than a normal emoticon! Let's make a pimp emoticon take up the entire screen - then go complain about how Yuku's layout wastes space.
On the old board, it was MULTIPLE emoticons. Oh boy, it's a WALL of stonefaces. Look out, here's a clever fellow... he's constructed a stoneface MADE OF STONEFACES! Call Harvard admissions.
Hopefully they'll get over these AMAZING discoveries in the near future, since we're already sick of it.
