im getting a 2 Alpine - 10" Dual-Voice-Coil 4-OhmSubwoofer and it Handles up to 1500W peak power (500W RMS). what would be the best amp to get? should i be getting an amp that has1500W? or an amp that is 1000W? i need just an amp for my subs because i got enough power from my deck powering my rear and door speakers. if possible pleasepost amps that are off bestbuy.com since thats where ill be getting my amp. thnx for all the help...
Definitely need an amp thats at least 500W RMS. Get either a mono amp or 2 channel amp because it will help your sub knock hard.

Get outta here with that mess..

Assuming its a alpine type r which by the ratings it sounds like it is that sub will take 750rms..and dont buy a amp from best buy..the prices areridiculous..i strongly advise to look on ebay if possible for a different amp.

thats a good price for a good amp, you'll get 750rms @ 2ohm outta the amp if not more. and you will have room to upgrade if you decide to add another typer.

US amps are good they are rated pretty accurately. If you get a pair of dual 4ohm type r's which is what i am assuming because you put 500w rms you canwire it to a 1 ohm final load. That US amp that javier pointed out is 1 ohm stable with 1200w being pushed.

the reason im asking for bestbuy amps is becuase i got a friend who can get the employee discount which is around 40-45% on car audio. what are the differencesbetween mono? 2 chan? and all that other stuff?

not trying to be smarta**...
mono=1. being 1 channel which you can use to run 1 sub so you can get its full maxium power. you can also bridge two subs to a mono amp and what you'll bedoing is dividing the watts of the amp to power both subs.
you can get a 2 channel amp as well but bridging both subs as if your using it as if it was a one channel will give you the amps maxium power since you saidyou don't need an amp to power your highs(highs=componet speakers).
with all that being said i would just get a 1000w amp and run both speakers off it. Most amps and speakers are under rated to prevent abuse/blowouts. If youcan get a 1000w w/at least 700w continous power it should be enough to power your alpine 10s. 500rms is the continous power you'll be getting anyway.
hope this helps.
maybe this http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?skuId=8699367&type=product&id=1199494646259http://www.bestbuy.com/si...duct&id=1199494646259
i usually don't mess with amps from best buy. i have an old school ppi amp pushing 2 kicker L5s.
**on a side note, the cables you use/and how you runthem play a part in sound quality. never run batter power wire and rca wire on the same side**

A mono amp. is just strictly for the bass. The 2 channel can be used for the bass and deck.

ehhh, i suggest getting 2/4 channel amp for the interior speakers too ...cuz the bass off the 1000 watt sub will

too much for ur interior speaker ...also running amp for ur interior speakermakes the music much clearer ....

Umm, the difference between a mono amp and a 2 channel amp is usually that a mono can go down to a lower impedance..you can run 40 subs off a monoif you like and it would work just fine (granted it gave enough power)

Mono amps are ussually class D and Highly effecient (70-85%) which is why they are always used for subwoofers..they make more power with less strain on yourelectrical..

2 channel amps are generally a/b class which are in the 50-60% effeciency range, in change you get better Sound Quality, but with subwoofers you will nevernotice the difference, especialy with a type-r which are far from being a sound quality based sub.

Now, if you insist on buying a amp from best buy get the PDX series, they are BY FAR the best amp alpine has ever made.

http://www.bestbuy.com/si...duct&id=1199494646328

that amp will give you a healthy 650 watts for your type R

Oh wait, your getting a pair of type R's?

get the pdx 1000.1 instead of the 600.1

but i would still recommend getting the us amps one that i posted earlier, its the best you can get for the price IMO

^that AQ amp is great as well..good quality amp.

Well first off the first amp wont work with your setup, you need to wire it to 1ohm or 4ohm with 2 DVC 4ohm subs..You will be getting less than 500 watts outof the amp, that amp is rated at 14.4v and your system will prolly be running around 12.5, you will only get around 420~ watts..thats barley enough to run 1 ofyour subs..

the second one will make power @ 4ohm as well, and its underrated..also the amp is TINY! its prolly 1/4 the size of the first amp, thats why alot of peopleprefer the amp. I strongly recommend the us amps one i post earlier..it will be cheaper than both those amps and give you more than double the power.

oh yeah
op dont get the aq i forgot its 14.4v
that means new alternator and battery
and you dont want all that right now

Nah, he wont need any of that...the amp will just produce less power, but those amps are proven to produce rated power at 12.5v

and prolly close to 1400 @ 14.4v

for someone else ... dude speifically asked for an amp frombestbuy and sounds like a beginner ... easiest thing would be class d and matching brand to make hookup easier for him as manuals will probably be using alpineequipment ...

You don't have to change anything. It was probably just tested at 14.4v

First, the amp that you posted is no good for his application the impedance ratings wont match up, so its a terrible recommendation..second,regardless of the brand installation is exactly the same..third, if you don't know what your talking about you shouldn't be giving car audioadvice..and fourth, i added two emotions so stop over exaggerating buddy

I would def look into the pdx 1000.1, that amp would be perfect for your type r's..but with his discount it will prolly run you 300ish

where are the pdx 1000.1

because im not seeing them. may i have a linkplease?
