I was watching Monday Night Raw awhile back and was soooo confused. I hadn't watched wrestling since about the time Stone Cold retired, but wanted to checkit out for nostalgic purposes and couldn't believe what was going on. If I even were able to figure it out. How can you have two seperate world champions? And, it seems that the studs these days have already been champions at least 5 times over. It used to take years for the top wrestlers to get their 2nd, 3rd,and 4th championships. And that number was select.

Them days when there used to be WWF and even WCW, which I was never a big fan of (NWO was fun though) was the Pinnacle of wrestling. Maybe I just outgrewwrestling, which is probably the case, but still, to see how complex and ridiculous it got is insane.

at some of these guys they have as "toptier" wrestlers. Nothing beats the old schoolers. Oh well, what can ya do?

This is in no way a shot at those who watch wrestling now. You probably never had the luxury of growing up in its rise to the top as I did or you're just adie hard which is OK too. I just was shocked at how negligent they treat those belts and matches.

90's WWF/WCW.....FTW

Yeah, but no one would have read it. And the people who are like me now, and don't watch it anymore never would have gone in that thread. Sorry man.

yea the past is in the past.... yea its kinda sad and this could have been in the wrestling thread

I'm in the same boat as you. I was a lifelong WWF fan, and I flipped it on USA just out of curiosity. What has happend to the product? The wrestlers nolonger feel like superheroes like Hulk, The Warrior, Legion of Doom fighting big monsters like Andre The Giant, The Undertaker, or Vader. It's just bigmuscular cocky dudes that wrestle now. It doesn't have that over the top feeling.

Even after that Era though, the Rock/Stone Cold held it down. Now they don't have that one big star anymore. I know who John Cena is, but I don't seehow anybody can be a fan of this guy. Triple H is still around, but even back then he wasn't a huge name like Hogan or Steve Austin. They need something torejuvenate the brand, but unfortunately I think the UFC/MMA has taken a large chunk of the demographic they were going for.

Actually, good point by bringing up Triple H. To put this in perspective, in the latter half of the hey day of WWF Triple H (Hunter Hearst Helmsley) was prettymuch a fill in wrestler or dummy wrestler. Then he got hopped up on roids and everyone retired.

When Bret Hart left wrestling it was over for me, but the memories are there. I can't believe I still have issues of the old WWF magazine from '94

Bret Hart = My All-Time favorite.

i'm actually really curious... i was a fan of this stuff when i was a little kid, but by the time i was about 12 i realized how ridiculous it all was...last night i saw a boat-load of people paying a cover in this sports bar to watch some PPV event and it was honestly the most ******ed thing i've ever seenwhen i caught what was going on in the other room.

How can grown men watch this crap and be entertained? what's the draw exactly?

Well, only thing I can think of, and something I forgot to mention...The only thing better I noticed about wrestling these days is the females. They have tonsthat are

Still not on par with Sable or Sunny, but definitely fine. It probably wasn't that though, so I don't know.

for me wrestling went downhill when WCW merged with WWF... stopped watching shortly after that.

Yeah, I think that is part of the story, but in all seriousness I checked out an old royal rumble on the internet and even though I knew the results I wasglued to the screen. It would be nice to flip to WWE every once and awhile and see some legitimate stars or some legitimately hyped matches. Everything justseemed to roundabout and bland. No great characters, confusing or boring story lines, just blah.

I feel you I remember when I was so stuck on what was going on at RAW. But now it just seems to dramatic, full of T & A and no good storylines. If you missthe old days I suggest you read Bret the hitman Hart's new book I read in a couple of days due to the nostalgia it brought.

I'll go ahead and co-sign...

But I stopped watching around the time Chris Jericho was about to return. I don't know that might be a little over a year ago? Now I try watching, butI'm sooo lost in their storylines and new characters, Im like "whats the point?"

Randy Orton, Santino Marella, CM Punk and Chris Jericho are the only reasons why I watch WWE. I'm glad I have old WWE DVD's and ROH DVD's so I canwatch some good wrestling.
