AIR JORDAN REST IN PEACE

im guessin you didn't hear about the new packs. if you think its over after you've seen the packs then you are too hard to plz. JB is a business.Fusions are making money. Makes sense right?

I agree that the CDP didn't kill JB, these fusions and hybrids did!...i agree with the article and i'm not worried about the direction of JB as longebay is still around...i'm only coppin OG colors and retros that had nice colorways...i'm stoppin at AJ XX3 and only buying the numbered Jordans Imissed out on (due to low funds or unavailability in my area)...these younger sneakerheads cop all that garbage JB is droppin as of late, not I....holla

agree. the problem with marketing for the younger crowd is that younger crowds didnt grow up watching mj. they dont remember the first pair oforiginal js they had. to them its just a trendy style. let rappers start talking about some other kind of shoe and they will move on to the next trend. jbneeds to listen to the faithful crowd that have been with them from day one. once they lose us, all they'll have is kids who are just jocking the latesttrend. they better step that quality up.

If JB starts to decline they'll just open the vault and release a few retros to boost sales.

I don't think JB will ever die really, I mean they got a core group of consumers that will always come back...we're already sucked in. Cats that aresayin' that JB is dead will be the first ones that will cop if a hot colorway is dropped. I can't see any real Jordan head passin' up a pair ofSpace Jams or White/Red XII's unless they have bigger things on their plate (house, kids, etc.) and they just can't afford it.

The trend seekers may move on to something else eventually but you gotta remember that this Fusion thing was an experiment with Carmelo's line and theFusions sold so well so why would they stop making them? Obviously many people like the shoes so why wouldn't they ride this thing as long as it lasts?I've seen Fusions sell out faster than Retros...and even some colorways of the XX3's. The Black/Red 6 Rings were gone in a matter of hours here.

I don't like them personally but that don't mean that I have to buy them, I just focus on the shoes I want to purchase. You don't have to buyeverything. JB has had a lot of bad ideas with these exotic colorways and shoes mash-ups but I don't even focus on them, I just stick to the Retros.

I agree with the article fully... unfortunately, hypebeasts and/or people who've grown used to mediocrity from JB are keeping product flying off the shelfand dollars flowing into the pockets of JB/Nike.

I think that sometimes, the shoe community can accidently mistake itself to be a lot more powerful and influential than it really is. Now that isn't totake anything away from us, but it is true.

Shoeheads may abondon JB in the name of preserving their integrity (and not wanting to be mindless consumer %%*$@#), but hypebeasts and casual consumers willcontinue to devour virtually any product with a Jumpman on it. Just look at the way fusions, hybrids, less-than-stellar sig releases (XXI - simply average shoeoverall, XX2 - highly overpriced, non-durable shoe, XX3-pretty to look at, painful to wear which is a sin for a performance bball shoe, 2K9 - at leastthey're Considered... for example), subpar quality countdown packs, arm sleeves, padded compression shorts, shirts with MJ's face on them (as if he hasactually done something truly good for our society in the way MLK, Malcom X, and Barack Obama have done), and fugly shoe inspired backpacks fly off the shelvesat JB-inflated prices.

Sadly (or not, if you're affiliated with JB/Nike) today's general consumers don't buy Jordan for the actual product, they buy it for the Jumpmanaffixed, painted, or printed to or on the product.

There should be no way in heck that the Jordan 2009 sells out quickly (if at all), but guess what? It will, even if we aren't the ones buying it.

unfortunately, i've noticed that ONLY NT hates fusions. the rest of the buying public LOVES them. i honestly don't see many fusions sitting on shelves.only the recent releases like the fusion 6s. the fusion 5s, 3s, 12s, etc. are all gone. that says alot. this gives jordan no incentive to stop anytime soon.
smh.gif

it is often stated, but i think few ppl kep in mind that NT is a VERY small percentage of the buying public. if jb listened to everything NT wanted, theywouldn't be the revenue machine that they are.

i think ppl like fusions so much because in their eyes it is something fresh & new. as opposed to the same retro models in different colorays continuing torelease.

but jb is def. dead in my eyes. so sad.

Hey JB

on all the Bs crap your putting out!!! But heeey ifcompeteing with variants is your thing at Headquarters then keep puttin gout that trash.

i think any jordans after the XVII were complete failure. all this mumbo jumbo fusion are dumb. have you noticed that most people who rock fusions and 6ringsare the younger crowd? while the OG retro's and retro releases are mostly the old cats. fusion productions would go up and retro productions would go down.unfortunately we cant do anything about this. jordan figured that since all these wack jays are selling regardless. that theres no point in making more retrosthan fusions & etc..

there is no way that JB is going out anytime soon. maybe they are sick of catering a select bunch of 'true sneakerheads' who are never happy with whatthey put out. why not make a bunch of fusions and hybrids to sell to a new crowd that they are getting on the hook (to think of the future and AJFs beingcollectors items!)? as much as I also upset with quality, changes, fusions, etc. I don't see why JB would do everything to make me happy when there are 10xas many folks that will buy any fruity colored fusion/hybrid they put out.
does it suck? yea. is me being upset about it and saying 'RIP JB' going to do anything? NO.

i dont know if its possible for jb to die. i mean they can make it to where the true jordan heads that's been with them since mj was playin dont #$%^ withthem no more. but they would really have to be dumb as a company to "die". even if they had a really really bad year they could always come back thenext year release sum classics (space jam, infrared, true blues, powder IX) at an inflated price 145-160 and they would sell out no matter the price and noteven the quality to a point.

That was a VERY VERY poorly written article. Boring read, did not provoke any thought. They need someone with at least some journalist experience to write forthem.

But, I think JB died around 2004. Two main issues:

A) The Original wave of Jordan fans (who experience the OG releases) and even the second wave (who experienced the good retros from '99-'03) are nowolder and a new dumbed-down generation has come into play.
B) The quality of the sneakers is beyond poor, to the point where jordans aren't 'special' anymore.

The brand will continue to exist. Im happy that they dropped the CDP, cause it gave me a chance to finish my lil collection and have 1-22.

99% agree with you. But remember that you (and me) started buying Jordans 23 years ago... into the hype...
