lunar foam... DISCUSS

Why doesn't Nike go with something like Brooks Mogo or Asics SoLyte? Basically, just a better and lighter and more durable foam that can totally replaceall of the cmeva or phylon. Not just a small cutout like lunar. SoLyte and Mogo are supposed to be better than cmeva in every way - more durable, lighter, better and more consistent cushioning. I have heard it described as wonder bread (small uniform air bubbles in the foam), versus the french bread (larger,non-uniform bubbles) that is normal cmeva. I have run in a couple pairs of Asics that use SoLyte and I like it a lot. Too bad brooks doesn't makebasketball kicks, and too bad asics doesn't have basketball kicks generally available in the US. I wonder if patents are preventing Nike from pursuingthis.

tuned air was a joint thing with footlocker or something. they probably dont use it because eastbay gets a cut

i have seen discussions are far as lunar foam implemented in releases and it has casually been admitted that lunar foam dies out a little more frequently andthat doesnt sit well with me personally.

I think it should be noted that nike does do wear and durability tests. Maybe not over the long term. But I have done many tests lasting several months, and idon't want to get into it too much, but ive tried all tech available, and made feelings known, plus and minus.

FYI...I was also looking for posts on the Foampositie eggplant since I saw them on FINL today, but this is the only current "foam" post active.
You need to see Nike Retro Forum for that kind sir.

You have about 482 pages to catch up on. But no one here will ever confuse a Foamposite with Lunar poo Poo foam.. lol

The Turbulence 11s, which seemed to get absolutely no love, are one of my favorite running/gym shoes. Very comfy, soft underfoot but firmer and better supportthan either 180 or 360 (which are too mushy). I think they had full length tuned air, and the later versions seemed to just have heel air. But in either case, tuned air should definitely have a place in Nike's lineup.

I think they are giving people different comfort options. All people have different feet and find different shoes attractive and comfortable.

All I know is lunarlite material has changed my life. I own alot of kicks (being a sneaker head) and the Nike Lunartrainer is the most comfortable sneaker Ihave ever worn, tried on or owned. This is also why I think this material makes the Hyperdunk the most comfortable basketball shoe with the Kobe 4 in closesecond place.

I know this topic is real old but...

Kobe V's ditch Lunar Foam and go back to Zoom Air? Hmmm.

but...

Lol this proves your other argument invalid then.

After repeated use, the Lunar foam loses its responsiveness and the foam basically flattens out.
You will lose the responsiveness of the foam where it used to be and it will feel like nothings there.

I never personally had a pair of the Lunar Trainers, but i've hooped in my Hyperdunks and they became flat after about a good 3 months.
What im thinking, is that Lunar is made more for Professional Athletes because they can afford to replace, or receive fresh new pairs of shoes with the Lunarin them.

Im not going to lie, i like how Lunar feels, but it gets annoying when either you have to hoop in a bottomed out shoe, or go purchase another pair.

Lunar Foam is Nike just laughing at the customers.

With other innovations like air bubbles or synthetic uppers or whatever, there is a definite performance aspect to it.

But LF is just a joke. Nike uses a slightly modified foam that's marginally lighter than regular foam, but that bottoms out much more quickly. The mainproblem is that REGULAR FOAM ISN'T THAT FRICKING HEAVY TO BEGIN WITH!! So if you take a few grams off the weight of foam, the result is a product thatcan't even last one regular season to play in.

I honestly cannot believe it's working. It's a shoddy product that wears out quickly and doesn't improve performance at all. If you think theweight of lunar foam versus the weight of regular foam is significant, then you're misinformed: a set of shoelaces weighs more than the difference.

^^watch what you say...we might have a bunch of morons playing ball in shoes with no shoe laces lol.

I tried asking in the other Zoom thread but no one responded...

I once saw this diagram that compared different types of Nike technology (I think it was at an Outlet but I'm not sure). It basically looked like adissection of sneakers. Any one know what I'm talking about?

Can anyone post it please?

I have a question, I've been running in Lunars for the past 5 years, mainly Lunarswift and I loved them Nike has now ditched the line with the 4's and I don't know where to go. I liked the responsiveness of the shoe and how lite they fell, I DO NOT like shoes that are to soft to run in it makes me feel like I'm working harder if that makes sense. So I look on NDC and it seems like they are really pushing the Zoom line in runners much like they did with Lunars a few years ago. I jumped the gun and purchased the new Zoom structure 18 maybe I should've got the Zoom elite 7 instead? idk or maybe I should have went with the flyknit lunars 2, I really don't know. My question is is the Zoom unit a lot more soft than Lunar? I hope not because I will be dissapointed and probably return the shoe when it comes.
