That's because rappers are relevant to us. Buddy Holly and Big Bopper aren't. Nothing against them but those guys didn't impact the lives of anyone under 60. Unless you've purchased some of their music recently on cd.
To put it into perspective, just imagine if Kanye, Lil Wayne, Beyone, Miley Cyrus, Jonas Bros, Jay-Z, Nas Justin Timberlake died in a place crash.
