I feel you but when I decided to get a bike, I wanted one that I would be happy riding for a while. I saved up all my money from my summer job andacquired parts...piece by piece... throughout the summer. In the end, I'm happy as hell with what I came up with and I won't have to change much on itfor a few years (Lord willing

I've been wondering if there was a fixed gear thread.

I learned without a brake even through I was advised to get one. Here is a picture of my old bike and some of me and my friends riding around:

I've since sold the Pista, and picked up a new frameset:

Serious question: why does every Pista Concept I see have an Aerospoke on it?

noob question i guess, either that or im just getting too old.

what is the obsession with fixed gear bikes?

my baby sister whos still in college has one and I just about killed myself the first time I tried to ride that thing. I was just trying to loosen up mymuscles and joints after gettin beat up playin football and it didnt help. i had trouble turning since you cant coast and the damn pedal is always goingaround, and its hard to mentally get used to always having to pedal. Is th enjoyment derived from being able to do tricks?

I have eaten %%@@ many a time while riding this thing. I was attracted to the bikes because I needed something to get to school and Iwasn't about to ride a beach cruiser or a mountain bike

These bikesare simple and require very little, if any, upkeep since it's only got one gear and no brakes or derailleurs. The most you really have to deal with is flattires (which suck) but all bikes get those. I'm horrible at tricks but it is a lot of fun learning. Biking is also my main form of exercise. Having toconstantly pedal guarantees you a good workout if you ride any kind of distance with some semblance of speed. I'd be lying if I said I didn't misscoasting though

And braking...

There are several ways to slow down or stop... Most common is to skid (which you do by locking your legs) but if I need to make like anemergency stop, I just step on my rear tire and I can get almost a sudden stop. Totally screws up your shoes though so I wear beaters most of the time when Iride.

That black Aerospoke set me back $295, brand new, free shipping.

I got into it because I need a new form of commuting besides driving my car, and most of my friends rode fixed so they persuaded me to get one. I love ridingthrough Philly. Kinda fun having to continuously pedal and always be aware of everything around you. Skidding is fun, until you realize it's not practicaland a waste of tire.

yeah i remember the first time i learned leaning over the handle bars put a huge bruise on my leg and skid stopping uses muscles you dont even you have

What does a new, decent fixie cost?

And What happens if you stop peddaling, like you just spread your legs off the pedal?

A complete bike? You can find some decent complete ones for around $500-600.

If you take your feet off the pedals, the pedals just keep spinning. If you're not going downhill, you'll slowdown gradually since you're notexerting any force.

Aww man, speaking of Macaframa, I NEED to catch the movie. I've missed both the San Diego and San Francisco premieres. I hope it comes out on DVD orsomething.

My favorite Macaframa commercial. Cinematography is ridiculous.

^ Maaan you missed the Sacramento show too haha. Colby was hoping for a mid February release...it should be out soon either way.
