OK a few minutes ago I was looking at TV stands on wal-mart and my PC shut off and the light that is usually green started blinking orange. Whats up with that?

on my dell latitude, that blinking orange light means the battery is dying.

so yeah, check your power supply, as ^that person said.

I came here first to see if anyone has had this happened and could give me a quick diagnoses. But thank you.

Another thing. When I sit it on the floor it comes on with ease.

FYI... It's time to back up all your data. one mishap and all your music, pics, & work are gone.

Dell's back then were pure crap. In the last 3 yrs. they have really picked up their quality.

it's really what "line" of models you buy from

for instance, all my Dell laptops have been from the Latitude line and i've never had a problem. Hell, i'm still using a C400 from '01 as a"netbook" of sorts (20gb HDD, 1.2 ghz p3m, 1gb RAM, a/b/g)
while i see crappy nasty Inspirons all the time, and them breaking down on people.

the difference is like night and day.

OK its working now. I don't know if the front lache not being all the way locked down was the problem or what but when it was on the floor it worked andnow that I pushed it back on the desk its working fine. When the problem started it was when the front end was hanging off. Does anybody else have a problemwith not getting the front cover all the way snapped back on?

Also, reseating your RAM sticks usually fixes amber light problems. Just take out the RAM and put it back in.
