Here is how NIKE ID can work for J's

Given the other topic about customs, and the now confirmed reality that numbered J's are no more, I wanted to see what everyone thought about doing NikeID for J's. I think it could be bananas! Here is how:

1. Ban all OG or retro colorways from the ID process. You cannot ID yourself and infra red VI or cement IV etc. This would keep the collectors shoes safe.
2.Use top grade materials- wack "glitter" patent leather need not apply! Only the best suede and leather.
3. Authenticate the customs: Hologram inserts with Serial numbers and shoe names that match certificates. The certificates would have bar codes and numbersthat allowed verification- even online. (an expensive process but worth more of a premium than CDP prices etc. ) Wouldn't you pay to have a specific codethat would verify your kicks?
4.. Keep it limited- but accessible. e.g. only allow folks to make ID III's for a certain period, and then stagger the kicks, ala the CDP pack. So onemonth would have XX and III and so on. This would keep the numbers limited, but accessible to the heads who are waiting for the ID period to start and get inearly.

I know I would cop a grip of XI's using Nike ID. What does NT say?

I'd like the ability to customize shows that consumers currently have. I'd like to have these customized.....

How so? For only a month at a time, it would not amount o that many pairs. Then for the next time that J is ID'd, a different authenitcation process can beused. We are talking about only a portion of Jordan Brands sales, their best, limited product. To me, I prefer this to CDP's and fruit loopy colorways onVI's.

1. co-sign
2. co-sign
3. why do you have to authenticate customs if you're getting them directly from nike? howsabout a receipt that shows the final design?

4. AB. SO. LUTE. LY. NOT.
- defeats the purpose of nike id.
- how do you determine who gets the "access"; don't we already have PE's and celebrity exclusives that only a couple have access to?isn't the purpose of nike id to democratize the shoe colorway process?
- would create the same effin feeding frenzy we saw for all the limited J's that dropped in 2008. which again, for nike id, would be stupid

I deleted th epic, but I htink we all knw which one I mean. We are all glad you copped ashoe you like, but we do not need to se it in every thread!

As fpr the comments about th elimited nature of it, I meant limited in TIME, not quantity. Every one who orders during a given time period, i.e. one month orwhatever, gets their order filled, so everyone who wants it can get it.

As for the issue of authenticity, the buyer may know it is authentic, but many folks have rightly pointed out that custom colors opens the door to fakes. For example, fake eBay sellers claiming their red white an dblue III's where nike ID's when they are just fake. The hologram or whatever authenticationprocess would prevent that from happening. In fact, it would deter a lot of fakes, although there will always be someone out there making fakes.

ok. so i understand your points. but here's one crucial item that you didn't address: what type of prices would we have to pay for the IDJ's? I doubt they would be the same considering the labor involved with individualizing mad shoes.

A high premium. That is part of the appeal, I think. Rather than paying say, 200 for a 2k9 or even some XXIII colorways, folks could shell out thesame dough for JB ID. Even close to the retail of a CDP pack might be fair. I might pay 250 for a unique but authentic J. Provided, or course, top qualitymaterials are used. Take the XX/III pack. How many people really wanted that XX? I think I would prefer a cool grey with varsity red highlight III with topnotch leather than that two pack.

Not a horrible idea, and definitely the best I've heard as far as retro ID's go, but, retro's need to stay off Nike ID. I say we need some old TeamJ's to go up on Nike ID.

I just can't get with customizing sig. line J's. As if the line between fakes and real J's isn't blurred enough, this would erase that line. Ifpeople want J's in other un-released colors just buy fakes. You can get them in just about any color you want. If people could customize J's, JB wouldcharge a very high price and use material's that are probabaly worse than what they use now. I like the team shoe concept, just not the sig. line one.

The OP addresses all these concerns. Besides, this is not about wanting some random fake colorway, it is about getting an official, high quality, personalized JB shoe. For example, make a cool gray VI. If it was legit, with top quality leather, that would be dope.

I would answer this with the same answer I used the last time someone brought this topic up

seriously, this thing is everywhere in NT, haha

I don't like the idea... people would just think you were wearing fakes.
they're not going to ask you if you have a "certificate of verification"... people
will just look down at your feet and automatically think "that dudes wearing fakes."
