sometimes you just need to get a certain area cut and using a guard just doesn't get you there.
going in guardless to fix or fade the side/sideburns makes sense. but on the top of the head? naw never.

what do you do when it comes to a line up?

1. thing is.. for people who are new to cutting...they're not used to how the motion works... you gotta get used to moving your hand backwards... ican't tell you the number of times I moved my hand one way...only to have the clippers buzz air b/c I wasn't used to the mirrors yet...so I canunderstand someone zeeking the top of their head by accident

2. I don't normally line myself up these days....but I can... and I have. I'm good to go if I need to. It just takes practice and a steady hand.

I'm dead serious....I used to do it every time I cut my hair...nowadays...I don't care.

I've been cutting my hair since I was in HS....that's 15 yrs of cutting my own hair...best believe one develops the skill do do a simple lineup.

I cut and line my own hair and after a year or so Ive got it down. Im not gonna sit here and say im god and never zeeked my #$%$ but never like that. Thehaircut part is cake you should never mess up with a guard. Its the shape up that will get me sometimes if im being lazy the straight edge might slip and go alil high. He never explained how that happened but if its like Dirty said where maybe the guard just slipped off then thats one thing. But if you went in guardless (on what looks like a 3 length you have now) and you werent going for a baldy or close to it you was just bein wreck less.

Funny how that makes me cheap, I just wanted to try it out. I know a lot of people who cut their own hair and it comes out well, and usuallybarbers dont get what I'm trying to do. The razor died in the middle of the cut so I had forgotten the guard was off, and when I went in it shaved thatspot off. I just went back now and trimmed it and it looks alot better.

damn kid, i feel for you. i recently started cutting my own hair but i picked up clippers with the interchangeable blades. i have the oster classic 76(comeswith a no 000 and 1 blade) and a no. 2 blade. came out to 190. its paid for itself by now.
