Man I wish I had the money for those Clarks right now. But jobless=moneyless. Maybe I can find somewhere with those on sale later down the line.

Walk into a Nordstrom when they're having either of their Bi-annual sales and you'll make away like a bandit.

One tip I will give you is this: you can look good in the cheapest fused suit from Express or Banana Republic as long as it fits right and its not a whackpattern. Ideally you want better than that so the suit won't fall apart after wearing it twice. Still, you can buy cheap shirts and suits or whatever andget away with it but if you go cheap on shoes everyone can tell.

Go through this slideshow from GQ: http://men.style.com/gq/fashion/slideshow/v/021908UP
It puts a perspective on how bad some people really dress without knowing it.

actually this slide show is probably better: http://men.style.com/gq/f...s/landing?id=content_7790
check out their shoes and just the general way the clothes fits in the "after"

instead of going all out... start buying 1 or 2 items at a time...and feel your own way to your personal style.

oh...and stop wearing sweatpants to class

personally, i don't think it's even too necessary to start dressing up to go to class.

but it is good to have some nice clothes to fall back on certain occasions.

Just go to Ross, TJ Maxx, and Marshall's.

at these dudes recommending a college student spend 300$ on a shirt

Edit: For the jeans to be worn casually, I think it's best to get a pair with 'blank' back pockets. That means no designs or embroidered stuff at all. I'm not sure what your body build is, but try the usual stores to see which fits you the best...Express, Banana Republic, J. Crew, Macys.

Dressing nice doesn't have to break the bank either. Getting 'regular' brands that fit you nicely is a 1000x better than having a Gucci polo that fits sloppy.

just remember.... short-sleeve dress shirt + tie = jokes made at your expense

other than that try applying for a Nordstrom credit card. You get rewards gift certificates as you spend. I am sure other stores do that as well but I likeNordstrom's selection the best. Also either once or twice a year they have "Member's or Cardholder's" parties which they close the storeearly on a Sunday night then reopen it for the cardholders and have insane deals going on. Plus they have finger foods and Margaritas and Piña Coladas. TrueStory

I still can't see how anybody can dress up for class outside of high school. Nobody in college cares what you have on. Just wear a polo shirt, jeans, andnon-sneakers. No point in going all out for nothing.

Anyways, you need to start with some khaki's or chino's, nothing baggy and no boot cut.
Darker chino's are versatile as well.
Real dark jeans, with a tapered bottom works too.

You need some non-bulky casual shoe, ie: Jack Purcell's or Stan Smith's. I particularly like how versatile Clarks Desert boot are.

Get some brown shoes, enough said.

Invest in a quality white dress shirt and blue oxford. Trust me, it will get a lot of wear and just plain awesome.
Striped sportshirts couldn't hurt either. Do not forget to tuck it in when appropriate.

Some V-Neck sweaters or a cardigan, take a pick.

A navy sportcoat is optional. Pea coats are a good option for cold weathers too.

A nice belt to match the shoes wouldn't hurt either, although at times, a beltless chino could look real good.

Don't forget the nice socks.

Some nice knitted ties to keep it casual.

The last picture really sells those shoes; BUT, those aren't Clarks Desert Boots are they? I've been looking for a very similar style for a very longtime, but always disliked the look of the heel on Clarks Desert Boots. Last picture(with the gentleman) looks to have no heel, any info? Thanks in advance.

. But ain't nobody tryingto dress like that all the time though.

i've been getting 1-2 items from express every pay period, slowly building my wardrobe.

i just want to add on that khakis + houndstooth blazer + pink button down + brown suede loafers will enable you to pull every female around you, provided youdon't look like roadkill in the face.

realtalk.

Banana Republic & GAP always have nice things on clearence.

PLEASE TRY TO AVOID WEARING OVER-SIZED BUTTON-UP SHIRTS AND BAGGY JEANS.
