If you plan on having overdraft fee's, you might as well not set up an account anywhere, they all charge.

But, I would Bank somewhere with either No ATM fee's or where your city has the most branches. In my area it's PNC.

Its better to go with a small local bank as they provide the best customer service. Just make sure they are FDIC insured. For NYCers I suggest SterlingNational Bank

Wells Fargo/Wachovia is probably one of the most stable banks and where I've always been.

They'll hit you hard with overdraft just like any other bank though. For the incremental savings idea you should try Wachovia's Way2Save. It puts $1into an interest bearing account every time you use your check/debit card and you can additionally put as much as $100 in the account every month. It earns 5%which is an unheard of rate right now, you'll be hard pressed to find a bank giving 4% on CDs right now.

and you can always setup overdraft protection where it will use money from your savings or credit card to cover you if you go over.

nah…they really suck, I had them and Citibank at the sametime, and BOA always charging something or their online service was slower, never up to date so my balance always showed up as being kind of "off" soI would think there was more money in there than actually…where as Citibank they are more on point with what's your actual balance, and their onlineservice is the best, plus I love my Thank You Rewards points.

This is probably pretty accurate. They charge you for checking overdraft fees even if your savings account is loaded. I remember when I had mylocal credit union would transfer the money from savings to checking for free. Now I don't really have that problem. BOA is good overall as long as youaren't living paycheck to paycheck. As for the online service, I'm not really sure what the deal is with some of the complaints. My charges appearalmost instantly online. I'm not saying they are the end all of banking, but they aren't particularly "bad" either.

BOA doesn't have free checking though.
WAMU (now Chase) has free checking and free checks for life.

Mechanics Bank son.

They didnt take any bail out money cuz they didnt need it. They were just on Fox News getting interviewed.

Plus they dont charge you any ATM fees, and whatever that ATM charges you, they actually rebate it back to you.

so you dont get that 22.50 like you would at any other bank and they dont charge you for using other banks ATMs.

I'm not only a customer, but i work there too.
