Did Nike get it right? Zoom Power vs The Six...

i completely agree.

they made the right choice from a business standpoint, as the VI has a casual look that appeals to more consumers. That being said, the VI isn't for me. I'll take the Zoom Powers any day of the week!

Another reason i think people are saying VI > ZP is because of the colorways. We have seen tonsof cw's for the VI and only 2 for the ZP. If the ZP was refined a little more it could have been a classic, especially with the possibilities the positegives from a design aspect.

One thing i dont like with the ZP is the swoosh idea. Swooshes should have been on the medial side of each shoe, with the L23 logo on the lateral of eachshoe...

i like the zoom powers the best
i did get a pair of the 6s(the kid)- i like the 6s a lot more than i did at first-maybe because we been seeing them so much
soldier 3s couldve been SO much better-dont like'em

i like the ZPs more because The Six looks too much like some AF1s even tho i have a few of The Sixes and the ZPs look more comfortable.
The ZPs should have been the next soldiers because the Soldiers IIIs are complete and utter GARBAGE.

I think Nike did make the right decision and it proved so with LeBron loving the performance of it. Although I think he should wear the Zoom Powers in theplayoffs because every year in the playoffs when he wears the Soldiers, they are just disappointing. He should bring out something hot when playoff timecomes...like Michael did with the black colorways.

Oh so now y'all are saying the VI's don't perform well? GTFOHWTB. They are excellentperformers...achieving a very comfortable and soft feel on the court while still being responsive. They are also amazingly light. I keep telling y'allthere is technology in the shoe, just not for the sake of being technology like flywire is. NIke has got y'all so used to specific technology that whenit's used in a passive form like in the VI's y'all think it's absent.

They look like fake *** LeBron 3's.

I like the Zoom Power a little better for my own personal taste, but like someone else said, I don't really like the swoosh idea on the outside, but Ithink it would've been cool on the inside. I hate to hear Nike say stuff like "Playing it Safe". Not doing that in the 90's is what made Nikewhat it is. The only thing worse than playing it safe on new sigs and technology like this is when they play it safe on retroes that had very unique colorways.

i know theres technology in it, but i hate the sole on that shoe. two of the guys i regularly play with bought them and both of them damaged the outsole. ashoe that retails for 140 should not last a couple weeks because they sacrificed the durability of the shoe to attain lighter weight (just like nike did withthe hyperdunk except they skimmed on the midsole and upper with that).

agreed. the shoe was sick but they should have flipped upper design with the swoosh on the outside of the shoe and the l23 logo on the inside. that was theonly thing i wasnt feeling about the shoe.

The soldier 3 looks a lot like the Air Max Enforcer. Nearly a direct copy of it. But I love the look of the Soldier 3, and I loved the enforcers.

Im not a huge fan of the six, I have the original black/white/red colorway, but am not a fan of them. I feel that they have a lack of midfoot support.

I was really hoping that the powers would release, but oh well.

Word life.

I was gravely dissapointed when Nike decided to scrap the original design and opt to release those monstrocity of a boot-esque sneaker they call the lebron VI.

Eww would be an understatement. Godforsaken and a condemnation for my eyes would be an accurate assessment.

When i see the VI's in stores, i cringe with absolute repulsiveness. Good gawd Nike... way to screw up a potentially outstanding Followup to the V's.

Real talk, I understand that it's a matter of subjectivity and personal taste, but i just don't see the hype over the current release VI's.

The original had; Carbon fiber heel lining, foamposite technology, vis-zoom air... this was a revolutionary shoe in the making. Au contraire, we saw somethingentirely different, like going on a blind date and Fionna from Shrek showing up. But then, Nike HARDPRESSED the marketing and hype into the masses and they ateup this hideous release like coke-laced scrambled eggs the day after Ramadan. People see their favorite basketball player don a shoe and it's jock-nitisstatus (i don't mind that, but the idea is that influence and proper promotion can persuade decision making).

Let's be real, if LEBRON SPORTED THE ORIGINAL DESIGN, CATS WOULD BE ON IT LIKE INFANT LIPS OVER A MAMARY GLAND (and rightfully so).

The lebron VI o.g. design = Porsche Cayman S.

The lebron VI "upset" release = Civic Hybrid.

As an avid shoe collector for 19 years... this is one of the most grandeur of letdowns i have ever witnessed on Nike's account.

This^

The released LBJ VI is a complete joke... Its a mundane design fluffed up with redundant stitch lines, ZERO innovation and an over used profile...

BOOOOOOO nike.... BOOO.

People hate on the AJ 2K9 but settle for this $##...!?!?

I'd hate to be a designer with those clueless goons over my head limiting what should be...

Im on both sides of this coin.

A little story to refresh those who don't know: The Real Story

Mark Parker who is the present CEO of Nike used to be a Product Line Developer at Nike way back when. So this guy is more than just a CEO.. he has an eye forcertain things good. He actually keeps his eye to the ground and when Lebrons #'s started tumbling, he wanted to know what progress was being made on thenew sig line.

Usually if execs want to see what the new lines will look like, they go to the "Line Show" just like everyone else in the Company in the Tiger TigerWoods building. This has taken place already for the upcoming seasons.

He decided about 45 days or sooner before the shoe was to go to production, that he wanted the OG Lebron VI to be re-done and by two folks within Nike thatweren't even in Nike Basketball. It was all the talk around Campus, because rumor was Kenzo was being moved to another Category and EVERYONE thought Alphashould be the next to be the Lead Designer on his line.

Quiet as kept. Aplpha didn't want that headache and politics associated with it. Believe me. There were many. See many want to believe what was told tothem by Nick Depalma aka Billy Hoyle about me being Slim Solejer and posting this info, but at the time, I had no idea. How would I? I didn't sit in thosemeetings. But such as life, I was in good and still am with quite a few folks and got the real scoop.

Being resourceful is always good. But since getting the real scoop, I'd figure now is as a good time to share as any.

Sort of like Kobe really not liking the Hyperdunk when he first saw it and had to be talked into promoting it, because at the time he wanted HIS line to getmore promotion. Not something Nike created and wanted him to back. However he's got a real good Sports Marketing guy named Nico who talked him into it andassured him, even though Nico knows Basketball had been putting out some real poo poo in recent years, that this was Eric Avars work and Eric is from theKitchen.

But I digress.. back to Lebron.

Nike is pooping their pants right now should lebron decide to switch his # to #6 as well. They wanted him to use # 5 when he first came into the League so hewouldn't be riding MJs coat tails, but Lebron wasn't having it. AT ALL.

Randy.. one of Lebrons boys comes to Campus every now and again to bring the Apparel folks stuff that Lebron likes to improve the clothing line. It'sWidely known Lebron doesn't have his own Nike Staff. There are no dedicated staff to JUST Lebron the face of Nike. With Kobe's Marketing capabilityrising again, the same situation is there.

There's many folks concerned about the Future of the line, and with the VI's success this season due to limiting Production (where'd that idea comefrom) and a crap load of colors to make money from they are having a temp fix for a problem they may not want to face.

Will Lebron Re-sign? (OF course The Swoosh is where its at) But what will he want on this next contract and will Nike give him incentives to be in NYC? CanNike afford it or give him this idea which would make WAY more sense fiscally????

(I aint telling) lol

I think they made the right choice for now. But the lows of this are hideous and already being sold on the Fake Market as most things are. If Nike wants tosave money.. fix that first.

This still boggles my mind. Why pay a guy what they paid him only to not utilize him? Why skimp?

Eh even though I don't really like the VIs, nike did do the right thing releasing them over the Zoom Powers. They have a better casual appeal for thewinter and it's easier to sell. I just hate what there doing with all these colorways, its really just overkill.

I think the Zoom Power should be the Playoff shoe though. It looks perfect for Lebron to break out once the seasons over. It has a sleek design and looks greatfor the summer. The Soldier 3s are just trash, there an ugly shoe that even 100 colorways won't save. They NEED to be scrapped and the Zoom Powers need torelease instead, I think the Soldier line should end with the 2s.

I loved the Zoom Power when I originally thought it was to b the Lebron VI..i wish they went in that direction..that shoe is beautiful! Can't complainabout the Lebron VI though..i like that as well..
