Epic Fail ! ~ The Air Jordan 2009 about to set record low sales

baby j, when are the sales figures posted? i remember they used to get posted every once in a while.

i copped me the eggplant penny foamposites...a shoe thats proven on the court and looks fly as hell......and those were 200

the last signature jordan that were hot were the stealth XX"s..... XX3's were cool but XX"s were hot without the hype and sold out.
 
It's sad that a lot OG J heads, no longer exist after many years of new releases. People have forgotten what a Jordan is all about. Many people want to buyit to dress with jeans, while the brand is trying to make shoes to ball in. Everyone like the XX3's, but I doubt many people have balled in them, cuz ifthey did they would feel very uncomfortable. Dont get me wrong the XX3's are a way better looking shoe than the 2K9's but not even close to beingcomfortable. Have many people even seen the shoe? Quality? Quit blaming in on the quality, the quality is up to par on these. It's retros that have poorquality, not new sig releases. It's ashame of how low their sales are because of hypebeast in these forums. There's no hype, so no one will cop. Itdoesnt make since.
 
i really like these shoes, they grew on me alot.. i mean i dont ball no more, but the 2k9's a white lacoste, and khaki shorts

LOL....the bickering in this thread is disgusting. Im not even hating on J's, but maybe its time to broaden your horizons....and stop complaining...
 
The issue isn't quality...the issue is there's nothing exciting about the shoe, it just looks like a regular white and black shoe. And the fact theywant $190, which is $5 more then the much detailed XX3 and $10 dollars less then the Foamposites is just ridiclous. After setting the bar high with ending thenumbered signature shoe with the XX3, the 2009 thus far looks like it will be a dud, and if you see them at your local Nike Factory Store in a month or twodon't be surprised.
 
Checked em out over the weekend and I was not impressed at all. They do not look like they deserve the price tag. I heard that the materials were great and allthis BS but they did not feel that great to me. I doubt I will pick up any colorways unless I get a great deal at the outlets.
 
id have to agree with most nt's on here, if the price were right i would pry ball to ball in...i think jordan brand is tryin to create a shoe that willactually perform on the court.

You don't think the failure of a flagship shoes is big? This is monumental right here in my opinion. JB has never had a flagship shoe flopso hard in their 24 years of existence. Maybe some later colorways didn't sell all that great but the OG colorway of a signature model not sellingwell...I thought I'd never see the day.

I took a look at these shoes Saturday when I went to cop the Max Orange I's and they were straight up horrible. I tried to make myself like these but theywere just terrible...if I bought them they would be just because I wanted them in the collection. And at $190 that's too high just for sentimentalreasons.

This can't be explained away by the recession either because the Nike Air Foamposites (Black/Varsity Purple) flew out of the stores and those were $200. Hopefully JB will get it together with the 2010 model, they'll have to come twice as hard to make up for this abomination of a shoe.

yeah people saying the materials on these look great are just over excited to see a new JB sig or something. I checked them out at NT Chicago and they arepretty lame and people saying that the midsole that is supposed to look glass blown is nice stop lying to everyone on here and to yourselves. That midsole justlooks like white/black melted plastic it does not give the effect of glass at all. To everyone that copped the S23 that is probably as nice as this shoe willget, congrats.

i think instead of raising prices they should do somehting similar to what nike has done with the hyperdunk. An extremely affordable shoe that looks good andperforms well on the court. i dont know anything about sale numbers but the hyperdunks must be doing well because everyone has them. i think the loyal jordanbrand customers would also appreciate a much lower priced shoe. if this shoe was 110.00 i think a lot of people would buy.
 
Thats what JB gets for putting out garbage, just look at this shoe, no imagination, plain, horrible. I wouldnt buy this garbage for $50 dont wnat to waiste thespace in my closet. And for the the people saying you will be hot latter for missing this garbage

^maybe before you tell someone they "sound ignorant", you should spell check your post. I checked the 09's out yesterday in person and i likethem and i will get them soon to play ball in. there was no hype for 21's or 22's and both of those rotted on the shelves. 23's drop and everyonethinks it might be the last jordan so the hype was unreal. performance wise the 23 was a huge let down for me. and the next time i hear someone say "mypinky toe hurts after wearing them" will not be the first time. so with the 23 you've got a shoe that looks good but hurts your feet. maybe the09's are the greatest jordan ever performance wise, who knows. but if they are, doesn't that make the price more reasonable? it does to me. let'snot forget, these are basketball shoes, they're built for basketball. maybe some folks at JB decided to make performance the top priority instead of makingsomething "hot".

Jordan Brand atheletes (as good as they may be) aren't the same as the man himself.

Actually is JB that is paying for their mistakes. Gimmick releases, uninspired design, low quality retros, and saturating the market with too much has led upthe low sales numbers of the BJ 2K9.
Forget about the carbon fiber, new technology, and so forth...99.9% of Jordan customers don't even take that into consideration when looking at this shoe. To the untrained eye the S23, and any other colorway of the 2K9 stinks. Period. And no person with any kind of sense during a recession is going to lay downthat much money when there are so many more appealing options at a justifiable price.
It's not about affordibility, it's about a justifiable price point.

The Air Jordan sneakers of the past could live off of the fact that they were going to be on MJs feet. Even with that ungodly advantage over the competition,Nike put their all into the Air Jordan sneaker with quality, innovation, and design.
Now that Brand Jordan no longer has that luxury, they are going to have to do better if they are going to last.


You sound salty that you've dropped close to $500 on a couple pairs of shoes that nobody around you is feeling. I'm I right?

Once again, I like the 2k9. Grabbed two pairs. (Granted I didn't pay retail)

I like the feel of them, it looks like a basketball shoe to me.

Buy what you like, in the end it's not that serious.
