Epic Fail ! ~ The Air Jordan 2009 about to set record low sales

The 2009's and other recent retro's including the majority of the CDP's are just lacking, quality wise.

The economy could be a major factor to low sales, but if you think about it, people in the retro forum are spending $200+ on eggplant foamposites.

Jordan Brand needs to start making some decent, good quality sneakers(like when they used to) in order for people to spend their money. Especially if the priceis $190.

In all reality, the last shoe I bought that I thought was good in quality were the playoff XII's in 2004. Ever since then leather and quality in shoes havejust sucked. (III, IV, V, X, XIV, etc)

Jordan Brand needs to start creating shoes that "wow" consumers(thinking of the Air Jordan XX, at first peoples reaction was negative, but the closeryou looked into the shoe, it was a really great shoe). Make the people something that they would want to spend over $100 on, not some crap like the 2009. Ithink Jordan Brand can continue with this yearly Air Jordan thing, they just need a better designer

Lastly, I don't think Jordan Brand needs to depend on their older models to keep in business. Of course they can bring back every metallic I, III-VI'swith Nike Air, and every XI colorway for people to buy, but you know that's not how it works. I think the people over at Jordan Brand just need to startbeing more creative, use good quality materials, and wow the consumers again.

Thanks for posting, BabyJ.

I'm sitting here, watching the replay of the 1988 NBA All-Star game on ESPN Classic... remembering the good ol' days when things were much simpler. When we got our first glimpse of the new Air Jordan during All-Star weekend and waited eagerly to see the new commercials during the All-Star game. It was atime when they only released 4 colorways per year. I miss those days.

Having said that, looking at the Jordan 2009 and seeing how poor the quality has gotten on the retros/CDPs, I can't help but feel so disappointed with whathas become of Jordan, both the shoe and the company. I do believe the XX3 was a great shoe, but it HAD to be. It was a milestone model. And if the the Jordan2009 is supposed to represent a new beginning for the Air Jordan, the future does not look very bright.

Oh well, at least I'll be able to save some money this year!

Exactly. The economy was in the crapper last year too and people were camping out in front of stores to pay $230 for the Premier XX3's. Twice. Not to mention the "Finales" being released so close to Christmas. They can't, but will take the easy way out and blame the economy. The Brand will still have to take more hits than this to realize that people won't spend money on low quality retros and uninspired Frankenstein models.

I'd say a very large majority of those were bought for reselling purposes because they were limited.

True...and those resellers also made1k plus for those shoes. In a struggling economy no less.

I agree 100%.

what do they expect i just got back from the mall i saw them in two stores not one person picked up the shoe theyll be under 150 very quick

I went to the employee store yesterday to check them out and they only had a couple sizes left but then again they were only 108 lol. With this being the firstsig shoe for the new line I think that Tinker should have been the person designing the shoe instead of a newbie

The Air Jordan 2009 appears to have the worst sales numbers in the last 5 years for a launch of their signature shoe.

I'm going to take that last one as a sign of reason to be happy in the future maybe. But I'm not shocked by this beginning part.

This was needed, hopefully those idiots at JB corporation will learn from their mistake and not try to scam their loyal customers. come one!!!! $190 for a pairof kicks jordan didn't even play ball in?? They not even officially his signature line. They should have just left it at the 23's and let the legacylive on.

like jordanx3 said up there, its tough to blame the economny when dudes are buying multiple pairs of foams

I knew from the jump when i saw the 09's mayden had coppied every shoe he grew up wearing shaqs, and1, Reebok and then threw in the 22's and14's

. So all together he didnt have a single original idea inhis head and then he steals the hologram from the 13's to add insult to injury. Im gonna get a pair on the discount racks just because im a Jfreak but thisis just a horrible way to regress and not advance the line like the 23's did.

It is sad though....

Not true, most stores have the shoes bought on credit from JB and when they sell them, they pay JB and get to keep a cut. Thats the reason why the stores arentallowed to give you deals on Js, AFs, etc. because they are at the mercy of the companies they get the shoes from.

Almost 600 pages into the Foamposite thread should tell you the economy isn't the reason that JB isn't selling these like they had hoped. Peopleblaming the economy are contradicting the truth when some people were buying FSR's on Purple Foams this month.

Nah...JB failed with this release because they're arrogant. The XX3's were splendid shoes in all aspects. The Jordan 2009's are just dull anduninspired pieces of recycled garbage from other shoes from the past. Nothing original at all...and at $190 they can keep their product.

the economy excuse is a cop out. these didn't sell because they suck. theres a 600 page post in the nike forum on the eggplant foams that says the'economy' has had no effect on shoe heads.

Word. The Air Jordan 2009 just suck, period.

jordan brand can't really say it's the economy with this model. just check out the frenzy for the purple one foamposites. lets face it jordan brand, the new 2009 looks and feels cheap. it's garbage and i'm glad that people aren't buying it. unless they bring back quality and hot designs, i'mfor the most part am going to pass on their junk. also, their prices need to fall.
