Jobless and Frustrated NTers check in VOL. WE NOT-WORKIN!!!

So there's a questioner on the online application one of them is " Provide an example of how the quality of your work impacts others around you." I'm having a hard time answering that question can someone fill me in please thanks.
By taking pride in my work and ensuring that its of the highest quality, it impacts my coworkers in that we can move forward with other projects instead wasting time and resources on one.
Writing this down :pimp:

Been applying to a lot of data entry/processing places.. Pretty much the best i can do with my experience

Looking for something that's overnight.

Did my Freshman year of college, but my mom got into a car accident and bought a new car a month ago so there was no hope for me to return this year. Also barely missed the deadline to apply to my local community college. :smh:

Applied to RadioShack, HomeDepot, and I'm going to a recruitment session or something for a HomeGoods Warehouse position. Trying to stay positive after not hearing anything bad from the other two. I have seasonal work experience from two summers, but I don't have any references because I've never maintained connection :smh:

I know my situation is a lot smaller than most of the regulars in here, but does anyone have any advice they can spare? I really need to start working ASAP so I can pay the student loans payments looming on the horizon (I'm pretty sure I'll start seeing them by the end of the month) and save money towards community college in the spring.
Just have friend as references. Most places won't check. Places like Radioshack, Home Depot dont have time for that so unless the manager tells you he wants references during the interview, i doubt he'll call any of them. Just give your friends a heads up so they can play along if they actually get a call. If anything, you can make a couple of fake emails and say that the emails belonged to past coworkers.
If you could wait a few more months, retailers will be upping their hiring for holidays.
You can also try finding a job through your school's career center. I know you're not currently in school but you're still a student and should be able to access the services they offer. And get a resume and cover letter checked too because a lot of times people think they have decent resumes but they actually dont

Just had a phone interview for a job, seems everything went very well. Now I just got to knock out this ride-along and In person interview for this job. Good  Luck on the job hunt fambs.

Went to the HomeGoods Warehouse job recruitment and felt like I did well. Interviewer said to expect a call around the middle of next week.

Keep the hunt alive NT fam.

Think I might lose my job nt. I need medical clearance to work , and I think I won't be able to get em by my due date. Fml, I need some motivation.

Got an interview with a couple of police depts, one next Wed at 9:30 and the other between Oct 21-25.

Panel interviews :x

Don't know if any of you read any of my other posts or even care, but the county health department called today because they are interviewing for another Clerk Typist II position. This is just after I received the letter earlier this week telling me they went with another candidate for the last position I interviewed for. :smh: People playin w/ a brotha's emotions. I almost told them 'no' but figured I had nothing to lose. At this point I either get it or I don't, not even gon stress over it anymore.|I

At least you can look at it as a foot in the door, and the potential for a steady income. Pride doesn't pay bills fam. Good decision and I hope the interview goes well.

Hope it comes through for you fam.

I'm waiting on call for my 2nd interview for this job. Hopefully they hit me up monday since the recruiter/interviewer said everything looks great on her end after my phone interview and that the manager in my area will call me in a couple days.

Going to a Career Fair at my Alma Mater on wednesday, hopefully a few interviews come out of it.

I gotta ask you this, is this a Career Fair specific to your major or is it general? I went to a general Career Fair at my University and it was a waste of time. All you're gonna get is the "Apply Online" replies.

Exactly why I stopped going to the ones at my school after freshman year. Add to that they only catered to STEM majors so the writing was on the wall.

In general, it all depends on what you went to school for tho. For my major most of the companies do interviews on campus the next day so it's wise that I go and give out my resume while giving them a little background on me. I do agree that most majors will get the "apply online" reply tho. It also helps that some of the companies will have alumni there as representatives and many of them are familiar with the professors that I had.

Campus career fairs are always a lot better than regular due to the crowd and the fact that they're geared toward the students. Having professors and other university staff there that may know you also helps.

I have an interview w/ Best Buy Geek Squad tomorrow. I hope everything works out since they called me back within 12hrs after applying online. I'm switching my focus from law to IT so I feel this is a step in the door while I work on my certs, at least I hope. I figured this job would transfer a lot better also being that I won't be in Pittsburgh a year from now.

Gave my 2 weeks notice at My morning job last Friday. I still have my afternoon job, but it's only a part time job. Will see what happens...

Thought I had this job lined up, but, things didn't work out. Trying to stay positive and optimistic. Continuing the hunt.... Good luck out here fambs.

What's a good job to go for where you can make decent money but don't necessarily have a degree geared towards that specific career?

I have a bachelor 's in Criminal Justice, but the jobs are so damn political
mean.gif

I'm open to a lot. Things I dislike are food related industries (waiting, bartending, etc).

I'm reaching desperation mode. I have two part time jobs and one per diem job, but still barely get by.
