Jobless and Frustrated NTers check in VOL. WE NOT-WORKIN!!!

hey guys just thought i would pop in, ive been at my job a month, getting crazy hours and being worked like a slave it feels, i gotta be honest if i didnt need the job i wouldnt want to stay, the place is ran like doo doo but im not going to quit it took way to long to find this, stay up, like yall told me, something will happen for you

I was working at a law firm for three weeks and they let me go  I'm not mad tho. I was forced to move out of my apartment on Friday so now I have to crash with a friend for a few weeks until another job comes through. I interviewed with game stop a month ago for seasonal work so hopefully I'll hear from them. I really want to leave the South, but I have to locate a job/somewhere to crash. I'm not even worried because I know something miraculous is about to happen. Everything is simply lining up.

Know you said you ready to bolt but austal hiring I think and there was an opening for a wiring technician with AT&T in mobile.

Anyone have experience with head hunters? My boy landed a gig in software sales through a head hunter and makes good $.

I need something quick because the frustration is setting in and I'm barely keeping up with bills.

Just paid $100 to take a civil service exam on 11/16 for Parole Officer.

You might be waiting a minute to get your name called if you're doing a civil service exam. Would definitely keep looking on Craigslist, hit up some temp agencies.

Wats good my brethren. Just checkin in. That temp job I started April 1st ( after being jobless for a whole yr, and having my FINAL unemployment check deposited on April 2nd ) turned into a permanent job. Ive been permanent since Aug 5th ( my contract was for 6mnths ending in Oct). I just been grinding on infinite levels and praying extensively through it all. I been ranked no.1 every month since Ive been here. A more prestigious position opened up in a different dept. I applied and did an interview last week Friday. Interviewer told me she was impressed and said she would get back to me mid Nov cus there were alot of applicants and more interviews. Then I got the call on Tues (Ha!) that they offered me the position and it feels amazing. I jump two pay grades and I'll be handling some really important duties.

Im far from balling but this helps me provide more of what my family needs. I share this with you all cus I hope this helps keep you inspired when things look hopeless. Its real out here and I never want to go back to facing eviction, creating debt, and have my family barely surviving. I made a commitment to excellence (said that in the interview) when my fridge didnt even have baking soda in it, that if given a chance, I will out work, out think, out perform, out do anyone that has ever done my job, whatever is. Its a struggle to maintain that drive when your in a better place, but you cant forget the fire you have to walk through to get where you are/ wanna be. This is still phase One of what I plan to accomplish in my career and this and any other ounce of success will only increase my desire to achieve. Im hungrier than ever. Cus I know your struggle. I was there, trying to endure when life was telling me to give up, go the shady rout, diminishing my confidence each step of the way.

Let all whom you meet on your career/ job search know that you are serious about success and establishing your reputation of accuracy and reliability. Let them FEEL your passion, sincerity, and honesty. They dont care what you been through, but let them understand fully what you plan to, for them. I wish all you much success and if you need advice ( great responses/ buzz words and phrases for interviews), motivation, anything at all, Im down. We in this together and the battle aint over til we all eatin.

Respect. (specially if you read all this).

glad to hear if you don't mind me asking what sort of work are you doing?

I was performing preliminary investigation for visa debit card claims for a bank at one of their corporate headquarters. Ill be moving on to doing credit card charge backs for master card, fraud analytics, and quality analysis for correspondence.

A bank teller gig I had for a few months when I was 19 and doin customer service for cable was what got me in the door. I work to destroy that door from ever closing.

Applied at this 1 spot a year ago, I blew it on the interview. Applied again like 2 months ago under a different email and username account. Got a phone call last Thursday and turned out to be a phone Interview, thing lasted like 45 minutes. They said they would keep in touch.

I get a phone call on Monday from some dude that says he's the Manager at one of the depts. there. Asks If I can come in the following day for an Interview (Tuesday) Interview is at 3pm, the exact time I start my afternoon job. I called in sick Tuesday and went to the Interview. Interview went great and dude tells me that he actually thinks I'm over qualified for that position and that I should try and get hired in one of the other depts. there. Says he'll slide my resume to the one of the other Managers, and that they'll be in contact with me in about a week.

I later found out that the position that I was "over qualified" for started at $14.50. Position the first manager thinks I'm better suited for starts at $14+ 7.5% extra pay, and $1.50 more an hour for working in the fridge. Comes out to about $18 an hour to start.

I get a phone today (well yesterday) at around 4:30 by the recruiter, says the new Manager got a hold of my resume and is interested and that I should be expecting a phone call soon, I'm like cool. I'm thinking dude will call back like on Monday/Tuesday, he calls me 25 minutes later. Asks if I'm interested, I say Yes, and asks when can I meet him. I say whenever he wants. Tells me to be there at 7:30 pm. I was getting ready to kick it with my friends and go out to watch the Doyers game, change of plans.

Interview lasted about an hour, I got mixed signals, and this interview didn't go as well as the first one. Now I'm up over thinking the whole situation. I keep playing the whole thing out in my head over and over. Lord knows I need this.

Pray for me Fam...

Posted this almost a month ago. I got the call earlier today that I got the job. I thought I had blown it, and kept wondering what/where I went wrong the entire time... I start the 27th of this month :D

There's dudes that's been in this thread since it started still posting today with no type of job still.. Preposterous and pathetic. :smh:

Lost my job back in april probably the reason i joined NT too much free time on my hands i guess lol.had a interview in the beginning of oct. that went ok but nothing came thru, still searching.

Got an interview at underground station today, not the greatest store but a job though. Suggestions on wear? Should I wear maybe just some jeans, button up shirt, some nike's, supreme hat? Since it is basically an urban typish shop. Trying to look as chill

Depends on what you're doing. Is it warehouse work or IT?

Lost my job in August been having no luck in finding another job. I got straight hustled outta of my old job and feels like life has been kicking my *** ever since. Unemployment accepted me then denied me when they made contact with my previous employer and now I got an appeal meeting on the 14th.

I applied with AT&T but haven't heard from them and I got a friend trying to get me into the Apple store but haven't gotten a call either. I even tried going back to my old job at best buy and that was a fail.

I'm down to my last $100 and just feel like a Damn loser, I couldn't even go to school this semester cause I lost my job and couldn't afford it. The only good thing I got going is my girl but I'm even starting to notice I'm messing that up cause now I don't have money to do anything and feel like I'm just a bum boyfriend.

I live in the Miami area, hoping maybe someone on here knows of any spot hiring... I'm to the point where I'll take anything.

Dress how you would at an interview at a bank or corporation. You only have one shot at making a good impression. Shoes, pants, shirt, tie. You don't need a jacket, but I'd suggest wearing a sweater over.

Interview in the morning for a delivery driver at Aaron's. I'm fairly certain that I'll get it. Hours are 11-7 which is very good for me.
