Two phone interviews tomorrow, one with a media company and one with a publication. Best news I've had in a minute.

Thanks. Have no choice but to kill it. Big companies that I'm speaking to. Full time w/ benefits so I definitely need to kill it. Tired of freelancing. Need security.

Has anyone decided to jump ship from one "career" to something more self fulfilling? I'm stuck
in a gig that pays decent that is trash and I'm hating the hours. Don't really want to complain
because I know many in this post don't even have jobs.I'm looking into web
development because it seems like a portable job that I'd enjoy.

Applied to 4 jobs this week, but it's difficult for me to apply to another fields because of my current
"career" track isn't as broad as others. Would love to make the switch to something completely
different.

Keep grinding people, the gig's will pop up eventually...

Do it!

Nothing worst than hating something you have to do for the rest of your life.

Plus, it's only going to become more difficult as you get older. New technologies, age discrimination, etc.

Applied fora gig off craigslist yesterday to help this guy move some heavy stuff around for 8/hr

Called me today first time I was running errands so I couldn't do it

On my way home he accidentally called me again but this time I was free but I need some more gas money to get there so I asked my moms then she got skeptical so she told me to run it by my dad and he told me to go for it if I feel it was legit I mean I talked to dude over the phone nothing sounded fishy

Called my moms back n told her what he said so she have me the green light

Ran around the house getting ready n **** just to get back to the phone and seeing texts from my parents telling my not to go for my safety

Some ******** man I'm a ******* man I can handle my self finally get something but I couldn't do it

******* frustrating as it is sitting around the ******* house everyday not doing **** then get a chance to make money and getting held back over some bull ****

Got me hot man :smh:

Okay people I've decided to look for new jobs in the field and out, but I've decided to do a pro vs. cons chart to
make sure I'm making the right decision. A school administrator in college told me way back to always write down
factors that will determine your leave in these circumstances. I'm writing the list for myself and also get some
opinions from you guys even through its a wrap for me..

Pros:

Lack of Stress
8 Hr. work shift ( rarely given OT, but can turn it down always)
100% tuition (must complete the degree, so 2 years or you pay back the money)
Weekly Pay
Okay salary (about 65,000 Gross)

Cons:

Terrible Management (manager makes the decisions even though we have a supervisor )
Bad supervisor (lack of knowledge in the field, places all work on the lead causing us to have more work because the lead is always busy)
30 Minute Lunch (by the time I warm my damn food its almost over)
Bad Neighborhood (I never leave the work site, its located in the hood but safety onsite is not a issue. I'm from Seattle so ya kinda strange)
Union Rules (tardy, sick, leave in general is really watched over because people have juiced the system)..think robot
Lack of Advancement (one of my major issues, i was told in the interview there would be new positions..smfh)
Early Start (prob the main reason I want to leave, I have to get up at 4:30 to avoid DMV traffic, I was on probation
for being late to many times, plus its destroys my social life and sleep pattern.)

So there you have it people, I think I have highlighted my pros and cons pretty well. Let me know what you think.

Gon head shake out playa that's too many negative factors that's just inviting trouble in the near future

Finished with my interviews for the day.

First interview was more of a generic phone screening from their HR department. Was brief. They're meeting with the hiring manager today so I should hear back very soon if not sooner.

Second phone interview was a legit interview. Lasted just over 29 minutes. Feel good about that because no one is going to waste their time speaking to you that long over the phone if they're not interested in what you have to bring to the table. She mentioned that the questions I asked were good and she'll be meeting with the heads in the department I'd be working in to see if they want to move forward with an in person interview.

Contacted by a media company that I had applied with before for another position they believe I am qualified for. Speaking with them tomorrow.
Good luck man.

I just started applying for jobs again yesterday, I got pretty discouraged with the fact that I havent been able to land anything and have just been going through the motions for a few weeks.
