Jobless and Frustrated NTers check in VOL. WE NOT-WORKIN!!!

Been using my friends' addresses to apply for out of state jobs. What's the most effective way to state my relocation plans in the cover letter/resume? So far, I've been saying, "I plan to relocate to State ABC without financial assistance by Spring 2015 to enhance my career growth."

just that. keep it simple
ie. i am in the process of relocating to xxx and am interested in the position.

Good information in here. I need a career asap im 24 turning 25 this year working 2 gigs, I know there is more out there. I just need the determanition to finish school

Going to tell my current boss I have a job interview with another company. Is this a good idea?
Not a good idea. Just opens the door for you to get fired for "insert x reason here" and then what if you don't get this new job.

So no heads up just incase i get the job an have to quit in the next week
A week notice isn't ideal but it's enough to where you won't really burn the bridge. Can't put your job at risk right now without knowing that your interview will be a sure thing.

Besides, the standard notice of your departure is a courtesy not a mandatory thing.

You never want to let your employer know you're looking for other gigs. I don't even like potential employers contact my current before offering me the job. They can def sandbag u so u don't get the gig then for u for some random reason. Not to mention that most employment is at-will, which means they could fire you without reason.

It's definitely illegal for a past employer to do that but it's not like that's stopped anyone in the past. You have to move really
stealth when making moves, especially if you currently have lame managers/supervisors. Crazy timing but I have a interview
coming up, in which I got the same week as I applied for the company. If I get this gig its a wrap and I will most likely not give
anything close to a week. I never respected the management nor the supervisor, and I felt I was given unfair treatment
while working the 2 years I have.

I'm feed up and will not give a 2 week notice at all. I don't even want to see these people again.
I just have to make sure I'm paid for my vacation and sick leave, which I have to consult HR about.

NEVER tell your boss what moves your making, as far are new careers and jobs!!

Yea, exactly. It's not like the potential employer would tell u if your current said bad things about u. There are actuality companies u could pay to call ur current or former employer and give u report on what they said about u.

But i would suggest u do what u can to not burn any bridges, u never know if you'll need to cried then again.

Is it uncommon for jobs to have a mid-year bonus? My soon-to-be boss was telling me about it. They give a mid-year bonus and an end of year bonus. I always thought most jobs gave the bonus towards the end of the year.

My job used to give quarterly bonuses, they did away with them the year that I got here. Besides my place I've only heard of one other place not on an annual bonus structure.

Anyone ever work for Northwestern Mutual? Pretty close to landing a financiak representative and just wanna know
You get some training and then essentially have to rely on your own networks to sell folks life insurance.  Never worked there, but there is a ton of info online about them.

Anybody do any sort of supply chain or merchandising mba's or grad programs? My girl has done retail for a while and wants to take the next step in her career.

i interviewed them and got offered by a similar company. one word of advice, don't do it. your first year is based strictly on commission, and they try to use you to milk money from your network (friends & family). it's mainly a sales job but I guess you can maybe use it to leverage into PWM, if that's your goal. and before you can start working, you'll have to pass several tests and that can take months.

What company were you offered by?

Got a new job as an lg product specialist, so glad I was able to land it. The only hurdle left is securing an apartment in San Antonio, as in currently in Houston. Although this previous year's rental history has been flawless, I've got 2 broken leases in my past and several properties view that as an automatic rejection. Both of those were due to job issues back home in Alabama. This upcoming opportunity will be the first job I've had that actually pays decent money and I know for a fact rent/bills won't be an issue but these bastards need to disregard that stuff in 06.

Question for you guys, I applied for a job in NY/Jersey City and got contacted by HR yesterday, but in the email they're highlighting the same job but in their Boston office. Should I ask them if the NY job is still available/why they just switched me to Boston all of a sudden cause I would rather go to NY. Its also worth Mentioning that the Boston office is their Main office so it would be better for me career wise I suppose.

Phone screen is today.

Anyone ever work a bank teller position? If so, how was it?

I worked at both Wachovia and PNC banks for a few years when I was younger. It's probably one of the most chill jobs ever but mundane as hell. Strippers coming in to deposit a ton of singles was cool though
