Jobless and Frustrated NTers check in VOL. WE NOT-WORKIN!!!

Bros hit up like 4 staffing agencies, mobile or not. When I moved from Seattle to SoCal I did. Between the 4 you'll always have a shift. I moved down here last March with $300 of my tax money & moved in with my dad. I now have a rented room on Craigslist, motorcycle, and a stable job & plotting on a bmw I saw. Yall gotta stay strong & diligent.

Regarding the agencies, how did you find them? Did you just walk in and ask for available jobs? Thanks.

I begin training for my new job (lg marketing rep) on monday. I'll be in Atlanta for a week, but the actual job is in San Antonio, which is whrre I am now trying to find an apartment. I have a broken lease from 2013 and it's very challenging finding a decent location that will work with you. My last 12 months of rental has been perfect, never late. Regarding the complex I applied to today, I make about 4 times the rent, they need to look past that mess from a few years back and see that I'm on the right track now, smh. I showed up in my military uniform when I applied, this is a big military town so I hope I can use that to my advantage.

Bro that broken lease is going to haunt you in Texas the full 7 years.

The last apartment I had in Michigan in 2008 I broke the lease and didn't pay it off. I had 6 straight years of good rental history and an almost 700 credit score when I moved in June of last year and still couldn't get an apartment at certain places without paying it off.

You will still be able to find a decent place but it ain't something they just gonna look past.

Prepared to be bored to death out here in San antonio. There's enough military rats to run through but as far as getting out and doing stuff , it's only so many Spurs games I can take.

Congrats to everyone who has found something they like! Is there any openings in the carolinas that anyone may know about?

^ I have a interview tomorrow for a new position. Closer to home but way less pay, but it would
make commuting way less painful. No more dealing with I-95/DMV traffic. I have way more experience
and a degree in the field, so I'm wondering if I should be asking for a match in salary or an increase
if I'm offered the position. Actually that's what I will be asking but I'm wondering if you
guys/gals have experience with that?

I used to work at a prestigous Catholic University in Houston and some of those kids graduated and worked retail before they found a gig.

yeah I was unemployed for a year and five months after graduation. I know how your feeling but you've got to keep at it. I started substitute teaching for 2 months, found a temp agency that got me a 30 day temp job which got extended to 4 months, then they gave me a full time offer. posted about it pages back

Just keep at it, find something to do in the mean time, don't just sit around unemployed while you look for jobs. that was the mistake I made and I learned the hard way that employers would rather you do something because even tho your grinding on your job search, to them it looks like you've been doing nothing.

I highly suggest you find a temp agency that staffs for your field because you'll mostly likely be able to turn that into a full time position. If not you'll be doing relevant work and you can continue your job search as well. you can try networking on LinkedIn as well

You ever try behavioral health? Many lost minds out here needing your help with those credentials.

Declined 2nd interview for assistant supervisor for mentally challenged group home. 32k, Tu-Sat 2:30-10:30 pm, bathing/hygiene duties :x Other job as a school-based clinician ran out of $ for the contract right before 2nd interview :smh:. Ideally want to get an out of state job and relocate but have to get my $ right first and higher paying job before doing that. Maybe I'll look at some V.A. jobs again.

^But you have to get your feet wet first.

If it's your field, you'll obviously need to put in a good year on a terrible shift just to get experience. then you can move up and start applying for county / state positons.

this is coming from someone who passed their state boards and took over a year to find a nursing job, i took the first thing that popped up which was bottom of the barrel pay, then a private psych hospital hired me, stayed there for 4 years and now I work for the county getting free benefits for my family and endless OT.
