Jobless and Frustrated NTers check in VOL. WE NOT-WORKIN!!!

Good luck to all the people with interviews coming up, just wanted to reiterate to never give up. I actually got 3 job offers after I was getting rejected left and right, not even getting call backs at times. I went from having no options to 3 options, with a lack of experience in my field. Persistence is key, just gotta find that motivation.
good to read this. I had an interview on June 15th and since then i haven't heard anything back from them. I sent the recruiter an email on Monday. At this moment, no response :smh: I'm pretty much chalking this a L and moving on.

never assume until you have confirmation, it took nearly a month for me to get an offer from 2 of the companies. One of the companies had a bunch of managers on vacation so a decision couldn't be made until they had everyone together.

also, I'm sure companies rank their candidates and sometimes their first or second choices don't always accept the offer and they make their way down the list. just keep faith but also don't stop the grind, keep applying.

Landed my dream job... well sort of. Not where I want to be but the hardest part was getting my foot in. Now just need to work my way up. Stay positive NTers.
I know exactly what you mean. Same thing happened to me this Monday, mad excited to get my foot in the door at this place. Refuse to squander this opportunity. Congrats fam

I love all the advice in this thread!!!

Does anyone know any good reliable sites for paid internships?

I am assuming you graduated from undergrad, and with that your degree is broad and actually should give you alot of flexibility in the market. I am assuming there's a reason you pursued your degree, you need to go back to that rationale and ask yourself what needs to happen next to get to that point. That will give you scope of where you need to be looking for work. Also, you will need to hone some level of specialty from your educational and work experience as the generalist nature of your degree will a) undervalue you in the market with regards to salary offered and b) ensure you end up doing nothing remotely interesting to you.
Thank you for your insight... I really do need some level of speciality and to gain more work experience. Im just stuck at the moment because i'm looking for good entry level jobs that will help me gain more experience. But most of the job qualifications just seem out of this world!

Anyone have any tips to network at conferences/meetings? I am going to be a big conference in my field of interest and there will be a ton of professionals.

I am looking for my first job in the industry so what should I do to essentially get a lead for the future?

befriend them. Don't ask for jobs straight up. Keep the conversations light and ask questions regarding career path. At the end, exchange business cards.

Interview with Verizon Thursday. I feel good about it. I have experience in third party Verizon sales and with my current job, I've built a fairly good rapport with the managers of most of the Verizons in the city.

I hear the reps make mad loot, like 50k easy, up to 85 if you hustle. That's life changing for me.

To my Bros out there looking, stay positive and motivated. It's a job looking for a job.

Right now just enjoy the freedom. If you eating and not in the streets, be grateful.

Pm me

This is a tricky one for you...typically, I keep convo in the career lane but since you are trying to get in there's not much you can say without it getting awkward. Think about what specifically is drawing you to the career path and focus around those things as your conversation point. If this is a stated networking event for those looking then don't be surprised if the event has more folks in your situation then connections, but even in this scenario the networking will be helpful to find out who's interviewed where, the interview process, and upcoming events that might not have been on your radar. If this is a networking event for those already employed then your follow up game will be important.....follow up on LinkedIn (use an event specific occurrence instead of the stock connection msg) and if the person works for a company you really want to work for you can follow up -- the follow up -- with a request for an informational interview.

Thanks for the tips bro. Most of the people will be employed so I might need to get my follow up game going.

I interviewed 3 days ago and am just now realizing I didn't send a thank you note :smh:

I need a template and fast

This is also something I keep a word document for. I have ten Thank You Letters ready to go at any moment.

The hardest part about thank you letters to me at least is using different words and structuring your sentences differently. You never want to end up in a situation where you have to do multiple interview sessions or meet with more than one person in a day so when you're writing letters you're sending everyone a letter that sounds exactly the same, thats why I keep the word document handy and try to add to it whenever I can.
Ms. _______,

Thank you for taking the time to speak to me today regarding the _____________ position. I learned a lot about what the position entails during our conversation, along with what skills are needed to succeed from you and am confident that I would be a great fit and quickly add value to your team.

I will be sure to keep in touch with any questions I may have and I look forward to hearing from you in the future.

Thank you,

Name
Throw something in there about the holiday weekend too, I did that when I had an interview on Memorial day, thought it added a nice personal touch to it.

@TimelessFlight  Adding that to my doc. Repped.

Pulling for you man, I know you want that job bad.

Interviewed with a logistics firm two Wednesdays ago... this wednesday it'll be two weeks. I should follow up tomorrow with an email right? I've never seen a thank you email but I should definitely start doing that after interviews.

Need some advice fellas.

As you know, I landed my first gig.

BUT another company hit me back with an offer(Keep in mind I followed up with them multiple times including the last time in which I told them I was considering other offers on the table)

I'm currently at a smaller engineering company but it is through temp(permanent placement in 6 months)

The other company is offering me more $$$ (about 15K more). Plus I'd be involved in more design.

No brainer right? Take the other offer? I feel bad in a way because I really did want to work for the company I'm currently at and the people are great. It's a real small and close knit group and they've welcomed be with open arms, but I I feel like I'd be learning so much more from the get go at the other company and plus it's more pay. Another reason I'm contemplating is because my sister once made the mistake of taking more pay but ended up hating her job. Help be bros

Thanks again.
