Keep your head up youngin'.  Guess what ??  If you dont make above $70k a year in NYC than the boat is all the same.

You'll work hard, just to get taxed, and spend the rest.  Life goes on.

Just keep looking, and keep a positive energy.

NOTE 4 ALL :::  Please stop ending resumes out mid-day folks.  Send it to them between 8-10 a.m.  Let human resources know that you are up early and already handling priorities.  Nobody should be sending resumes off at 3 p.m. on a Friday afternoon

Great advice. Thank you.

EAST COAST NTERS LISTEN UP! If you don't mind hard work CSX the biggest railroad company on the east coast is hiring like crazy right now. You'll get said $@+$ your first 6 months and it'll suck but i've been here 4 yrs and i've already cleared 35 this yr alone. No college needed but it would help. go to Csx.com and apply. The way gas is rising the railroad is really booming. West coast Nters try BNSF

question for everyone...

what's wrong w/ gettin a lil penny-enny job to make ends meet until you can get the job you want?

i've applied at Hibbets, Enterprise, and a hospital in the past two weeks and got offers from all of them..

and these are just jobs i'm contemplating to work on my MBA...

not even something i want to do forever, but if i can get on and make somewhat decent paper, then why not?

i'm no job expert...

but i think that a current job would make the job search less stressful...

many folks in here have degrees...

so what's the deal? am i missing something?

flame suit on deck if i offended anyone...

AceRawstein speaks the truth!  Many jobs at least on a company's career center or website is just to scout out the candidate field.  75%, def true number, they are already to just promote internally.  It's like free marketing research to see what's out there and what $ willing to concede for.

usajobs.com is a joke and the application process with 15 gov't forms to fill out is effin ridiculous.  indeed.com is my homey.

yea a good amount of the times the positions are opened for individuals are are transferring, or being promoted from within the company.

How many interviews you ask? 3 three mutha @#$% interviews. One of them I networked my tail off for and still waiting to hear back. Other one said I was overqualified and the most recent one I aced the interview but found out this morning they wont even be able to fill the position anymore because of budget cuts

Not sure about everyone else, but at least in my situation, I can't even get those penny-enny jobs. Sometimes I think I should leave off that I have a college degree because they may be hesitant to hire someone who they know will leave once they get an opportunity to move on.

yea, you really do have to leave off some stuff.  employers dont wanna hire and train you if they knew you are gonna jump ship real fast.  i told them i was still in school (when in fact, i already graduated a few yrs ago) and looking for pt work and that is how i got my job.  it is less stressful since you are getting a paycheck, but college grads dont wanna bust their !%* for low paying jobs when they got bills and loans to pay off.

Has anyone tried staffing companies before? I see a lot of them, but not sure which one is legit. I try and look for reviews on them, but there aren't much. I found one called GradStaff, anyone ever use it before?

Yea I had an interview with a District Manager for VZW and right when dude asked me my major he was like "You do know this is for a sales position correct?" (I`m a Computer Info Systems Major) So I whipped out my resume and he saw my yrs of sales and customer service experience, I had a great interview and he set me up for one in store. I crushed the store interview, but still didnt get the position lol, I mean dudes has the mentality "Son has a Non Marketing/Mnagment degree and a decent GPA, and we looking for ppl to work 40+ hrs a week, he good but he wont be here long" Can't blame em but still that sucks lol

Right now I`m waiting on some of my old professors to hit me up about reference letters so I can apply for this positon at my school and an Instructor postition at a Tech School. lol if dudes dont come through I swear I`m not giving a dime as an Alumni  lol

Just keep your heads up.

lol there are places that dont do online apps? thats wassup though, good stuff
They all did online applications but I stopped by the offices. (tried to make a good first impression) This was all for security guard jobs.

ohh another rant...the ole so mighty Sales Jobs....i wish to God I never come across a sales job while im in the middle of hunting!!
no offense to anybody working in sales or looking for a sales job....but to me its the worst isssh out there and over marketed to "new grads"

ill go ahead and admit my personality doesnt scream sales at all...out of all the jobs ive held none have been sales

let me get this straight you wanna lure me in saying I can make all the money but when I get there the clientele is shot to crap and I gotta go over and beyond to try to make myself some money selling something I could give two #$%#$ about...lying and conning people...pass.

im sure thats why sales jobs are always available

end rant

its a waiting game for me now, my 2 interview well i think went great. 1st the GM interviewed me himself and as we were leaving he said ill give you a call today or tommorow to set up another interview.

Also, when you apply at certain places that don't require a degree to get the job, you will be seen as overqualified and passed over for the HS graduate.

an update for me
