Jobless and Frustrated NTers check in VOL. WE NOT-WORKIN!!!

Nothing. Career experts have repeatedly decried ATS and the way HR currently does things, but HR is very stubborn in their ways. Before you used to be able to submit a paper application then the digital shift came and eliminated the face to face. If HR saw that their job could be replaced by automated technology which is already taking place, they'd be more inclined the change the current system.

HR really don't choose he gets an interview or not. The HR recruiter will send a list of possible candidates along with their resume to the hiring manager, and the manager will then choose who they want to interview. HR almost always send everyone who applied for that position to the hiring manager and ask if they are interesting in interviewing that candidate. If your resume don't impress the hiring manager, then most likely you will not get an interview. But, it is not up to HR who gets an interview. Also, hiring managers are sometimes lazy or extremely busy and don't want to interview anyone. Sometimes, hiring managers don't rush to interview and hire until they are about to lose the position because they've waited too long. The process of getting a job is really ridiculous. Hope you guys find something soon though.

Quick question for everybody in this thread?

Does everyone here have their degree? Whether it is a bachelor or associates.

Yes. The problem is that my field is becoming increasingly contract based instead of permanent for a variety of reasons one of which is the ACA.

I have one in Business Admin, but only jobs I can find are sales ones! And my sales are not my strong point!
I'm thinking about changing my major. Right now it's Business Admin just like you but I haven't even taken the major specific courses yet. I'm not very business savvy and I'm not good at all with numbers.

What are you thinking of switching to?

I was a Finance major, always thought Business Admin was a fluff major.

What you mean by fluff?

This thread could be a lot more useful if we had posters who have connections at their jobs or know people post in here. If I had a lifeline to throw, I definitely would. I'm waiting on a potential opening myself at the moment that I was contacted about. I want to see this thread die someday. Might be worth it to post our city/region if people are lurking and have some leads to offer. These are just suggestions.

No hard skills learned, lots of people major in it, companies aren't too impressed by it.

Agreed, but how about networking within NT? I've done it and have connected with some good guys.

I'd be more than happy to help NT fam (and have helped with fixing up resumes), but let's be real: if I don't really know you or we haven't connected somehow, it wouldn't be smart of me to go to bat for you.

You gotta be careful with plugging certain people. If that person is not a good look you end up looking bad.

It could be a good idea though

That's true as well. You really don't know the people behind the screennames. Their work ethic could be ****** and it ***** you over in the end.

This would be a good idea, but it's some shady people in the world!
