Jobless and Frustrated NTers check in VOL. WE NOT-WORKIN!!!

Anyone ever worked as a sales rep at ATT, Sprint, T-mobile, etc. I currently work for a cell phone provider call center and when I went to get my service activated on my own with T-Mobile the sales rep gave me her card and told me about the job opportunities. I recently got a promotion (I'd say I'm pretty good at my job), but I wouldn't mind working one on one with customers. Especially on a commission basis. Thanks if anyone can shed some light on that kind of work environment.

Stay away from Authorized retailers, unless the pay is high and its not stress you should be straight, but most of them tend to be shady from my experience.

offered an interview across the country but it can't be done remotely. Is it acceptable to ask if travel expenses would be reimbursed if I decided to go and/or the compensation for the position?

If they won't do that, then just pass on the opportunity. You shouldn't have to come out of your pocket when they're recruiting you from that far.

Had what I though to be a great interview on the 3rd of November. The Manager was super animated and extremely cool. Can't believe I actually cut my hair for the interview. Anyway appeared the place was extremely into my skills and qualities. The Manager even walked meback to my vehicle and asked was I still interested in the opportunity, and I responded "absolutely".

Haven't heard back from them, they mentioned the following week they would be getting around to making a decision.
The department was extremely mellow, even took me awhile to reschedule the initial interview due to their meetings out of
state.

They could be having issue price matching my salary which is what the manager had mentioned, something about it
being rare to hire somebody and having there salary above everybody else. I'd take a pay cut it's 5 minutes from my house.

Sent a follow up letter yesterday, waiting to see what up.

Never cut your hair for these jobs!!! Lesson learned I will never do that ever again.

I had been contemplating it but then i thought nothing us guaranteed, if they cant get passed my hair and focus on my skills and ability then this may not be the place for me!

I cut my hair Tuesday for the same day interview. It wasn't nothing major just 2 months grow but we starting to feel the growth.

O well now I wait. The recruiter did say she talked to all my references and they all had good things to say about me. She giving the feedback to the hiring manager.

Yea I wouldn't cut it until I get the job and they say I need to cut it

Only thing I would be cutting is my facial hair if I was one of you dudes that had been growing hair for 6 years .

Jobs talking about hair,

9/10 times it's another coded way to refuse black people.

I see white guys with long hair and tattoos in professional settings often, but it's a deal-breaker if you're black

(or maybe its the black skin that's the deal breaker)

don't cut your hair, **** them. Wearing a suit, getting the education and gaining experience is all it takes for everyone else. It's just another coded way to discriminate/dominate.

I remember i had a boss rub his cheeks to indicate that i hadn't shaved. i laughed out loud at his gesture. He didn't pay me enough for that.

I would suggest cutting your hair. It's hair it will grow back.

That being said my last two haircuts have been fades and this Saturday I plan on just fading the sides and not touching the top. I don't work in an environment where people with "non traditional hairstyles" are present so I'm curious to see how this goes over.

I don't think a fade is even that crazy of a haircut but yeah.

Since it was mentioned I'll say that I'm black and that's a reason that I don't play around when it comes to the haircut for interviews thing

It's not. I have a similar haircut (short on the sides, pomp on top).

When you're starting out in finance like @Antidope and me, long hair is a no go. I'm sure it's a lot more lax in casual workplaces.

1. create the energy you wish to receive

2. Believe what you create

3. fill out apps

4. fill out apps

5. get calls

6. fill out apps

7 work for cheap( trust me)

8. fill out apps.

9.never stop believing

10. ask and you shall receive

basically put forth the same effort as if your trying to bag a chick...

wake up text, good nite text, in between text, dress good , smell good, be polite and meditate on your goal whenever possible...

That's one of reasons I feel like iIcan get away with it. Guy that I sit across from has that haircut and a part in his hair.

It's just not worth trying to prove a point man. Just cut your hair and shave. You aren't here to advocate for change of perceptions right now you're tying to become employed.

How I feel at times! Cut my hair, it's basically my way of life. I keep my hair done and face groomed on a weekly basis! Just kills me that people have to deem down to the mans standards all the fcking time smh

And no offense to no one in here we are equal in this thread.... I hope!

another form of control these weaklings try to exert.

which is why i work for myself now.

No offense taken man. But your hair is such a minor thing when put into scope. You're tyring to gain employment man, getting a haircut is a part of interview prep.. Not getting one is willingly handicapping yourself.

It applies for sole proprietors as well, you aren't going to go prospecting clients looking unkempt.

I'm curious what fields you guys are in that you're fighting tooth and nail over haircuts.

If it's a creative field, I understand. But if it's business formal, I don't get it.

The only people I've seen with long hair in my field (and I'm sure @Antidope has seen a few at his firm) are rainmaker Managing Directors who bring in significant $$$. I've been called a sellout, but I guess I value my career more than my hair (I'm #NThandsome regardless of haircut). I'm also a commodity at this stage in my career, not a special snowflake. If they're paying my bills, the least I could do is play the part.
