TEAM AIR TRAINER

modzzilla, not those. think back to 2000.... <avatar. highly sought after "CLASSIC". im sorta surprised by the price right now. i guess a fewpeople really want that item. in that condition Id go no higher than $110 tops but I could see it going upwards of $200. It's funny but just months ago, noone wanted a DS pair for $180, yet now a used pair is creeping up there. It's always bad timing.

what ive been wearing this past week:

-I've gotten about 15 wears out of these since I did some repainting on the midsole. I'm proud to say after some light sanding, use of nail polishremover, and about 2 hours of my time mixing and painting, i've matched or exceeded nike's paint quality..they are now just barely showing signs ofpaint chipping. After about 3 months of wear I'll be where I was with them after only 3 weeks of using them initially. I'm no chemist, paint pro, oranything like that so it comes as a surprise to see such quality results with just alittle time and effort, none of which nike is apparently doing

Wally those 1990 Air Trainer High's are amazing. When and where did you exactly get them? Got my fourth pair of chlorophyll's in today thanks to afriend in japan.

that's funny freshkicks. myself, another guy i know, and yourself combine for maybe 12 pairs of 00 chlorophylls. and with maybe 28 pairs crossing ebayspath over the past 5 years, that's a decent number being accounted for by a select few.. Tireless work, bargaining, and alittle luck.

the at high 1990s were a typical ebay purchase back in 2005. at the time of purchase I didnt know they were 1990 production model. Auction photos weren'tvery good. I didnt know if they were used or new. for the price i paid and the timing of the auction ending sooner than it would be to get extra photos, therisk paid off. i was initially upset after getting them and seeing they werent infact "orginials" but a 1990 model. but that quickly wore off as Ihave yet to see another 1990 model out there. i havent seen any older at high 87, 90 or 93 in quite the condition mine have been in.

Ive seen some 1987 originals from dan dunn (photos at arkamix.com), nt's PDuno and nt's vintage sole. Much like the air max 1 that had a firstproduction run with a certain type of midsole, the air trainer high had the same sort of thing happen. Two varying types of production runs on their originialmodels. . The early 1987 production models had an exposed stitched "ribbing" similar to the air 180 runners on its tongue. The late 87 model is whatwe see today, the folded look.87 exposed stitched on tongue:

late 87 model with the folded under stitched tongue:

Just another interesting factoid to throw out there for the interested trainer heads. The air trainer high initially had the seperated toe piece as many sampleshots have been shown. This latest bit of info is quite new to me. Much like the air max 1 with a first production run that had a different midsole mold, herethe first production run had a different tongue styling, and as seen in the sneakerfreaker sample scan, a red pair was never released in a first productioncycle, just a late 88 run:

I suspect the ribbed stitched tongue at1 should not have even been released, seeing as how subsequent releases in 1990, 1993, and 2000 had the folded underlook

haha... the stitched issue again... was it done on purpose or just a factory 'variant' issue? I guess we'll never know... QC back then wasn'tall that tight...

Freshkicks ~ check your PM pls!

man, i never thought about different production runs in that same year 1987. i was re looking through some olderphotos and noticed different prod. months within that same year. did we ever come up with that conclusion?

what a weird era.

Guys dont be afraid to post the item number for good deals, they're not live links and are allowed.

gotta give thanks to bubbaela for keeping this thread alive, at times it could drop to page 5 or 6. much appreciated

Any NTer's pick those up? A mini bidding war started about 5 days ago and not one extra bid since that time. I was expecting prices in the mid to high $100dollar range as they ended on sunday night. I was telling a few people, i've seen bad.. in fact I own beat up air trainer 1s and they take a hell of a lotto get in that state, and those in that auction are far from beat up status. That's a reasonable end price though.

An oddity here. I found this searching google images. An Air carnivore inspired custom AT1:

One could also check out a website like napsize for an unusual array of kicks right now. 2000 AT1 michigans sz10, 2000 AT1 varsity reds sz 10.5 among manyothers. At $200 dollars I guess that is reserved to D grade quality JORDAN brand retros or current nike retros. I'll never understand the supply and demandof nike products.. "quality" is literally an afterthought.

wow... those were stuck at $86 for about a week... I honestly expected some late movement, but that didn't happen...

wallyhopp----as always thanks to you sir for being a major contributor or great images of shoes, scans, and personal insight.

air trainer x-trapolite 2000

bubbaela1, what an interesting era for cross trainers in the late 90s early 2000. zoom havens, trainerposites, and the many varieties you have been posting.what else is there from that era. mid to late 90s had some high cut turf styled trainers and going into the 2000s mainly the lowcut running style..

anyone follow this ebay item?

Call it selfish, but anything under $60 bucks and its just too tempting... my red 2000 stash is slowly catching up to my green stash..

people be spending $140 on the latest griffeys, $150 on the latest foams, meanwhile my cheapself buys used kicks and knowing they are used will go out and playbasketball in them, at or beyond the level of most other nike (lifestyle) retros

Bubbaela, whats the story on those NYC stitched sc trainers?

-----------------------
In honor of what I consider the best retro BO SC trainer III collection ( he has 99% of every retro c/w), I want to showcase NTs own tonystarks1's bocollection. He hasnt posted in almost a year here, but its safe to say his collection photos will live on.

from his collection thread. I stitched all the sc trainers together... 44 retros. can you believe that?
