TEAM AIR TRAINER

Definitely not a storage issue. Nothing else I own has really aged like this. I guess this just goes to show everyone that once you get a few dozen wears into a shoe, it still may age on its own. It may go from level 0 to level 3 in 3 years, but that 4th year, it just seems to want to exponentially yellow and go to level 6. I have a few others that sorta come close in the yellowing but those have been worn 2-3 times MORE often than this particular pair. I owned another 2002 at1 for 4 years that sat DS in its box and didnt age a bit. i guess those 20-30 times wearing them was enough to break the material down to age on it's own discretion, at any time. Kind of a scary thought.. Wear your shoes as often as you can. It seems like some shoes have a "expiration" date like seal of freshness, that once you get them in the open air, there's no turning back.

The way this went down it seemed more like a model specific issue. 2000s yellow but not like this. 2005 at1 lows yellow slightly over time. 2002s in a DS state in a box don't yellow at all. but the perfect recipe for yellowing? Slight wear for 4 years, then a 1year break, and the shoes looking like it should at year 10.. Oh well. We live and learn. This was my first $125+ trainer purchase, and may be the first to retire. It seems way too soon

Well i dunno, i'd expect to see some wear after 3 years and several thousand footsteps.

Wally ~ I haven't worn my 2008 AT1's since I got the 2000's. They've been tucked away in storage.

Anyway, yours does look like a case of storage and the dry environment of NM. Which reminds me... I guess I should check-up on mine.

Did I ever post these? i went back a couple pages and saw none of them..

Currently, some people unknown to the trainer genre may feel that trainers were always this small niche... But at one time, they were doing it big.On par or exceeding jordans and the running genre. You wouldn't know it to this day and how they are treated in the retro front, but the amount of

going on back then reached epic levels.

Those  white jordan IVs in do the right thing were always the attention grabbers, the showcase piece where everyone focused on those all these years later. But it was spike lee who had on the med. balls trainers, and in these other photos, more bo jackson trainers. These other dudes have the choice of jordans or some other shoes of the same caliber, and they chose the indigo blue sc trainers.

That's just the tip of the iceberg in terms of what people have found over the past few years on the internet. We gotta start watching those late 80s movies.

Here's a screen capture from a movie I saw awhile back.. 1993s Rookie of the Year.

I think it's a trainer. I can't put my finger on what model it is. I dont believe anything in 1993 came out that looked like those, so it may be a 2-3 year old model that this guy is casually wearing.. Any ideas?

It looks almost identical to this 1991 Nike Cross Trainer Low shoe

cleaner shot of the lines on the upper on the womens version:

But I can't explain the black line on the middle of the midsole. I thought for a second it was maybe a TW lite variety?

Wally- Thanks for reminding me.
i was looking through some old photos when i was younger.
you know looking for any cool shoes being worn.
spotted my aunt in disneyland with us wearing a pair of og at1's....
gonna post that photo soon......
gotta dig it up again.

new avatar is great also Wally.

I have not had a chance to see those new retros in person yet though.

It's that time again... "Collection" update

Early 2009 pic for comparison sake from page 1:

and...

Today:

Today I stand just +4 in a span of 28 months. A true lateral move.

A quick rundown of the losses and gains:
Got rid of every unwearable vintage pair. I love them from a "collectible" standpoint but thats where it ends. I need shoes that can be called up to wear anytime.
More chlorophyll 2000 at1s and mean green 2004 zt1s.
And then a few more added pieces here or there.
Biggest jump probably came from the SC HIGH model. Lightning, 09 auburns, mushroom jp, comet reds, and an extra infrared.

Vey nice Wally.

Arbys, the dudes will send you one if you find a post by themand contact one of them. I was going to get one, but they seem to havr forgotten....

Anyway, experts please, this was posted by some dude over at SF and i figure we could help him out:

Hi,  hope you can help.

I am trying to identify the model and year of a pair of nike cross trainers i had years ago (oh nostalgia!) .... whilst searching the internet found this site.

IIRC the year was around 1988-90 - in UK if relevant (?).  They were Nike cross trainers - i found www .  sneakerfreaker  .   com/ feature / nike-cross-trainers / 4 / but none of the sneakers pictured are the ones i had.

I may be wrong but i see to remember the the following year the ones with the strap (pictured in the above link) were released.

ok, so here is my description.

there were two models, both white - and i *think* no swoosh. (here may have been a swoosh on the innerside - of the outside but not on the outer side of the outer)
there was very subtle trim, in either royal blue - or red (as i said two models)

The main (and pretty much only identifying) feature was an "embroidered" / "woven"
"Nike Cross Trainer" Logo

the logo was placed and inch or so behind the little toe

here is a link of the logo
--link removed as noob cannot post
http :ohwell:/ www . nikerepository . com /_/ rsrc / 1265856816330 / nike-logos / vintage-nike-logos /nike-cross-trainer-logo.gif

hope someone can help identify them - if anyone has a picture that would be great - have looked for ages in google images but no luck

.... then the task of tracking down a pair begins!

thanks again.
