TEAM AIR TRAINER

Quick is right. lol. No hard feelings. I check that site every day, sometimes up to 4. It must've been posted and ended within 5-6 hours. I do the same when given a chance.

If you don't mind me asking what you paid on them (you can PM me if you dont want to disclose publicly). Wearability can be a true issue. Depending on how they were stored, and by my estimates, sheer luck sometimes, you may have a wearable pair (a pair of brand new 97 raiders had some midsole foam crumbling within 4-5 wears 2-3 years back. Which placed the age of the shoe right at 12 years old. Not that every pair is the same but it shows anything is possible). They didnt show a photo, but how are the webtec straps? Those are the first things to yellow. Funny story about the recent BO sc highs I saw at a Nike Outlet store.. Just 2 years after releasing and the fake webtec straps are yellowing. Almost every pair I saw had some ugly yellowing on them... Yet another shoe sitting DS all these years (the pair you won) has likely less yellowing than the recent pairs.. It's just some sad times when comparing the two.

Not sure if you've owned any recent bo's or that earlier era of them, but that pair will put such a stronghold on you and spoil you from ever wanting any recent BO ever again. Bittersweet moment. PM if you would like to discuss wearability, and where my pair went bad (surprisingly not around the air window).

Ghenges, not sure of your size, but a few sz 13 at1 chlorophylls from 2008-2009 ended on ebay within the past few weeks. $100 shipped and something like $130 shipped... Any other year will be as rare as a 98 royal blue sighting from above. Lots of people looking for em. You gotta be ready to send in an offer and end those auctions earlier. I think I bought 5 or 6 of my chlorophylls in that fashion. Sometimes the seller doesn't know what he's selling and will end it at $50 or $80.. Other times, you're paying $150. I take a common approach of averaging out those figures as a way of saying " I win some. I lose some".

EK - Royals are pretty awesome.  I'd probably put 'em in plexiglass case on my desk for a few weeks before I got the courage to wear 'em.  Thing of beauty for sure.  Congrats!

thanks you guys, i was pretty shocked when i saw them ( im on ebay like 50 times a day, lol) i payed 160 shipped for them (a lil steep imo) and they have been stored in the orginal box ONLY( no ziplock or silica) in a dark closet their whole life, so I'm thinking they just might be wearable. They should be here by tomorrow so ill update with better pics. also wally the straps I dont really know yet i havent saw the shoe. from the pic tho, it does looks slightly yellow(hopefully not full blown). thx again guys!

This is exactly the feeling that everyone should have when they buy a new pair of kicks (brand new models and retros)...

How many years are gone without that feeling for a pair of retros?

Once again, so sad to see what nike does nowadays...

...

I'm excited just hearing that someone else has that awe struck moment with a pair of trainers. I'm all smiles looking at the photos.

Honestly guys, I'm not sure how far along some of you are with your buying and wearing habits, but some of you having gone through the originals, and then the retros 8-9 years later, how can you still be around with the current condition of Nike products?? Are you waiting around hoping for a moment like the above?

I've stated numerous times that I was late to the party and have been playing catch up ever since. Without the 2004 zoom trainer, at1 low ft, and at1 low, I just don't know where I would be. I've been lucky over the years to obtain some of the late 90/ early 00 retros that are wearable.. I've been slowly selling DS older trainers because they are just aging too rapidly. I may never wear them... Best of luck in whatever you choose to do... I had midsole foam cracking on the inner part of the shoe where there are horizontal lines around the inner arch area.. One of the upper horizontal lines had minor cracking appear after 5-6 wears. I stopped wearing right away. I wasnt sure if one could fix that area and still wear them... The air bubble part of the midsole appeared fine. Yet thats the area of concern on many other older shoes

Some back story of the 98 royal blues.
Without the good graces of a fellow NTer hooking me up with a pair of used royal blues, I don't know if I would ever own them otherwise.. There was one other pair on ebay years ago that was DS but the straps were 4-5 shades of yellow and it just looked off vs. the all white leather and paint of the shoe... Your pair above would be only the 3rd pair I have seen on the 11.5-13 size range.. There have been maybe 2-3 other smaller sizes around. None ever as clean as the pair you have... If all else fails, a midsole swap could be in the works. I was so distraught with my 97 raider pair that I instantly resold it online taking any money I could. Selling a flawed shoe vs. a potentially flawed shoe is tough.

And aside from the outrigger and front toe piece getting extremely yellowed over time, my pair looks nearly DS after years of wear. The strap yellows independently of everything else but mine looks great.. My other 99 pimentos are a bit differently... I can't say the same about the latest retros.. I saw the white/grey/navy blue 2009-2010 retro at a nike outlet and it had years of yellowing on the strap.

So to see the entire shoe all white, with diff. yellowing times is impressive.

Awesome stuff. I'll get photos of my used and abused pair for you to compare.

Salut NT,
How everyone's doing?

Here's some BBQ pics from France...

What you think about the 160.00 Shipped price tag? Also should i tryto de-fog the bubbles??? or just leave them?? wonder if that makes them weaker or break down easier!!! opnions guise?

Awesome photos WatH. I take it that's like 3 peoples collections combined, right? Does anyone only buy and wear the older stuff? Like myself. I see a lot of recent retros in the mix (most on the right side).. Is that just how you split it up for the photo or are those diff. collections? DO you have any upclose photos of the shoes? I see some gems mixed in there. I'd love a better look.

That 4th photo of what I believe to be the AIR TRAINER TW LITE I has some amazing detail. I know it's also on the orange SC II LOW below it. That horizontal line detail is just astonishing. Retros would overlook that with the quickness.

ekhunter1, The price does seem a bit high but what can you do? I have seen others go for $60-$120. Many can be even had for way less in a lightly used state. But just as some sellers will say, ebay is not a great gauge for some of these older rarer shoes. People essentially don't know what they are selling. So you can definitely build a mindset that the ebay prices should be where it should be all the time. But in reality, you have sellers who know how rare an item is and doesnt necessarily need it sold, so you pay that price. I could see a no reserve $49.99 start price on these end anywhere from $80 to $140.. So $160 is not too bad. Awhile back there was a big wave of OG auburns. Some sold below $50. Some upwards of $200. Take your $160 as being fortunate it wasn't higher.

None of my late 90 sc trainers were picked up at that price. Then again, none of them were brand new and sparkling.. I took chances on used pairs, and essentially fixed them up and keep them extremely clean after wears. You have the unique chance to wear a new pair 13 years later. It would be hard pressed to say no to that. An extremely soft and mushy foam should be a giveaway if its not wearable. You could sorta tell that with my raider pair. But my others seem well enough for wear, at least for another year or two.

As far as defogging. Doesn't that require a blow dryer and HEAT? I would keep all chemicals and heat away from the air bubble seal... that's just me though.

All this talk today. I'm busting out my pair this weekend for wear.

In other news, I spotted these while searching the web

Now that's what I call a true BLACKOUT shoe done right.

Hey Wally,

Only 2 peoples "collection" combined on these pics!
These 2 friends wear and buy a lot of older stuff, as you can see. Some OGs are not wearable no more due to ages but some ATs can be rocked.
Yes, OG, older retros plus recent retros on the same page... I mean, we love Air Trainers, not only the older stuff or the new %#%.
No matter if we rock an 2000 chloro or a 1999 SC or a 2009 Med Ball, at the end, a Trainer is still a Trainer my friend...

I understand what you think about that, about Nike wack strategy or lack of quality on newer stuff or straaaange colorways.
Here in europe, it's not so easy to cop Trainers... Of course we got some euro exclusive but in a "trainer" way, we have less choice than US residents. I mean, I think I have like 30-40 trainers, but i have only 3 chlorophyls.
So hard to find it right now! I really respect the fact that you are focus on classics colorways. Need to put your pics on the ATiens website if you agree!!!

Hey Modz'!

Haha I want her too my friend...!

Pac Mans yesterday to go stay in a hotel with the wife.

Nice view during day and at night, casino has the flames every hour on the hour in Melbourne....

She enjoyed the view too....

Spectacular view... of Melbourne!

It'd be rude of me to comment any further, so I won't!

I think the funny part is I was eyeballing those White/Royal trainers from that guy on ebay think it was youngmicah or something like that. He was like i got a offer of $140, but at that moment it was too steep for my taste. looking back i wish i pulled the trigger! ekhunter1 you made a great move purchasing those. Ive been talking with wallyhopp via pm about alot of purchases.. I'm just glad they went in good hands., but YOU GOTTA WEAR THEM! I will post pics of my forever growing trainer sc collection soon.

Far more comfy than the SC that recently dropped. I'm more than pleased.

Bonus view of Melb:

really love those SC IIs
I'd definitely buy a few pair if I'd still wear sneakers

anyway, this is what I still have laying around (all sz13, all DS, all OG)
