Am I reaching if I say Capital Punishment > Ready To Die

CP aint flawless. "Punish Me" is the proof. Great, great album but not better than RTD.

Ns just jock big for some reason...
Same reason Ns jock Jay I guess. But at least with Big it's warranted.

Now why you gotta go and do that?

I got a whole crew of @!$$@! back home who say Pun has the greatest flow ever.

I dont think its a reach. its your preference. Pun was an absolute Monster on the Mic and he doesnt get the credit he rightfulyl deserves in hip hop'shistory

It should get as much love as any other classic album but are you saying that you don't like Capital Punishment?

These 2 albums are great and I listen to them on the regular. As to say which album is better, I give the slight advantage to Pun because of his lyrical abilities and I'm a big fan of both. Big was just as raw on the mic as Pun was. Imagine if these two would have got on a track together

I still wish they both were alive. R.I.P to both Legends!

I like Capital Punishment, it's a very good album and all but to me it's a not a classic, to each is own. I think people truly overratehow lyrical a rapper is or can be and automatically think that makes a rapper great. You can have amazing bars and lyrics for days all you want to but if youcan't make great MUSIC than it means nothing. That not to say Pun aint great or couldn't be seen as great back in the day, but no way now how from amusical standpoint is Capital Punishment better than Ready to Die.

no... hes sayin that theres another classic catagory reserved for anything big did... and that ranks above the other classics somehow...

Sure, that's what I meant

I think Pun was a better rapper than Big, but I beg to differ on this one.

Ready to Die is a classic, but I hate when people base Biggie's legacy off that one album... I mean, dude only dropped 1 album when he was alive and hissecond album only had 4 hot joints on there

i mean pun was nice but damn......ya _____'s jocking mad hard BIG> Pun

Lets not bring Jay into this. Like I said before These 2 albums are great. I understand that RTD is praised by many fans but I feel CP should get morerecognition then it does. Its not like RTD completly blows CP out the water. What it comes down to is opinion and who you like more I guess.

I also think BIG > Pun only because Big has more consistant material. Honestly we don't know if Pun would have made other solid albums after CP.YeahhhBaby was not Pun from CP and I'm not sure if he was able to really make this album as good because of his health and death.

SEND ONE - I think Punish Me is one of the lower ranked songs of the album, but what don't you like about it? Is it because it is a chick type song? Ithink it was a good display of lyrical story telling but it isn't one of the Pun songs that stays on repeat.
Deuce King - I respect your opinion, butyou don't think Pun had a serious flow and delivery?

Pun had a mean flow and a great delivery, but he's song making ability left much to be desired for IMO, or at least in comparison to BIG for that matter. To me, no matter how lyrical you are or how tight your flow might be, you have to learn how to make good/great songs to seperate yourself from the rest. That's something that I think has held Nas back from time to time at different stages during his career for example. That goes from beat selection, hooks,or just overall vibe of the track, I would take RTD over Capital Punishment any day of the week twice on Sunday. Now, if both rappers were just spitting barson the corner in front of the liquor store, I can see how and why people would rather listen to Pun over Big, but in the studio on a track, I'd go withBig.

It's just something about that song that just doesn't fit with the rest of the album. I respect the song and give him props for puttinghis business out there like that and I think it's one of the "realer" songs he has, but for some reason I cant rock with it.

I was never the biggest fan of either to be honest. But capital punishment had ready to die beat by a land slide.

Agreed

Disclaimer: I'm one of the biggest Pun fans on NT. He's my #2 or 3.

Pun is by FAAAAAAAAAAR the better rapper. It's no contest. Lyrically, it's a massacre. Biggie doesn't hold a candle to Pun. Seriously.. nothingBiggie has ever spit left my jaw dropped and hitting repeat over and over and over. His flow and delivery were equally ridiculous. Monster is the perfect wayto describe him on the mic. My man was ferocious in the booth, an uncaged vicious wild animal spitting over beats.

Shame that he and other GOAT status rappers get slept on, especially on NT.

Now,

CP better than RTD ? No way. Obviously CP is a classic and a great album, but RTD can actually be held as a top 10 or above album. CP isn't up that high...it had too many weak points. I bump CP all the damn time, I love the album, but even I'll admit that RTD is the better album. If Pun recorded morestreet/battle rap type songs and took out the useless interludes and skits, it would be the better album.

My Top 5 goes like this:
Biggie
Pun
Nas
Em
Jay

You think Pun was better because he used bigger words and methaphors. I can tell you know ABSOLUTELY nothing Hip-Hop by saying Biggie doesn't a candle toPun. Biggie was the better rapper. Hands down.

There is one difference between them and that difference is what makes BIG the undisputed G.O.A.T.

BIG delivered his message by using the least amount of words yet he still painted powerful pictures. He got his message across clearly and effectively. Thereis a reason why people still RECITE BIG lyrics to this day. It is actually harder to do what he did than what Big Pun did. Don't get me wrong PUN is one ofthe few that can be tossed in the G.O.A.T conversation and what he did was appreciated but he isn't better than B.I.G.

I love Capital Punishment and Pun definitely was something special but this isn't a contest.

pun and big are in my top 3. i give pun the edge for his lyrical ability and i love both CP & RTD equally, but come on, albumwise RTD was a better puttogether album than CP. and thats it

i own cap pun. i dont own ready to die,

Big was alright, but i never involved myself with his library of work, from a listening standpoint.
