WHY IS AMERICA SO FAT?

it's cuz people love eating unhealthy food, and those big corporations aren't going to stop their practices because they're raking in the money.they could care less that a lot of their customers are turning obese.

i don't think there's anything wrong with eating fast food/unhealthy food, as long as it's not every day, and that you exercise regularly. alsoit's important to try to make good substitutions to cut fat, calories, etc. something as simple as not putting mayonnaise on your sandwiches

I would just like to say that I feel the FDA is at least somewhat corrupt. Its entirely possible to pay some people off, and get a couple favors sent your way.I mean youve all been watching the news lately and seen all the scandals getting exposed...

I forgot to mention that it's also the "I don't care" attitude either. I know some people that are over 250 lbs and are around myheight..5'10''. They know they eat bad, but they just don't care. They 'grew' to love their man boobs and love handles. The easy answerwould be to take out a loan and get a lipo I suppose.

Most people are either too busy or too lazy to do some kind of exercise. Exercise shouldn't be viewed as a chore, it's as simple as riding a bike orplaying basketball or some other sport with your family. Another main reason is that unhealthy foods are often the cheapest you can find while healthy foodsare quite expensive in most areas. It's convenient and cheap to buy unhealthy food that is made up mostly of refined sugars and fats like 25 cent chips oran entire box of cookies for a dollar, and therefore people, especially young kids are more inclined to buy these kinds of food. It is mostly anindividual's fault for not taking care of themselves, but some of the blame has to fall on the government or the FDA. It is a difficult and complicatedproblem because the government can't just stop companies from making cheap food or from using cheap, potentially harmful ingredients and the governmentcan't stop people from eating these foods.

One of the worst problems is that even with increased awareness, multiple documentaries, and clear evidence, people just refuse to pay attention. For example,I remember a case where some girl tried to sue McDonalds because the food made her fat or something. Things like this are disappointing because instead oftrying to make a lifestyle change for the betterment of her life, she just decides to attempt to blame someone else. The documentary "Supersize me"was a decent documentary that revealed a lot of things, and yet people still continue to eat fast food in excess.

I doubt the problem will ever go away. On the contrary, it will most likely get worse with the addition of hormones and genetically modified plants andanimals. Pretty soon, food will be completely man made instead of being natural and who knows what kinds of consequences this will have on the population.

I couldn't stand being anywhere close to out of shape. I will never understand how so many people are satisfied with mediocrity.

I should add that as someone who eats extremely healthy, you have no idea how hard it is to do so. Firstly, eating out? Forget about it. Secondly, the cost isridiculous. You have no idea how expensive it is to try and eat lean and clean. Sucks, but whatever.

It's that down south lifestyle of driving everywhere, summer cookouts, fast food diet plus the only time you could really go outside is like in the springand early fall ....... I swear in the summer if the heat don't get you the mosquitoes sure will

I think America is fat because people work out 1 day and expect to get results the following day.

I can eat all the food I want and not gain any weight

I ate nothing but chocolate for 2 straight weeks and I actually lost weight

fast metabolism ftw

fast food, corner stores, & other small stores are more accessible to many more people than super markets. super markets don't put their stores inurban areas because they see it as a risky investment. many people in urban areas don't have transportation & rely on public transportation its noteasy lugging a months worth of groceries on the bus. so local quick food no matter how unhealthy or overly priced is easier to feed someone & theirfamilies. there's plenty of sociology/environmental justice studies on it.

Healthy food is actually more expensive to buy. Let Alone most people dont cook for themselves, which doesnt help in this recession time.
So People go out and buy fast food etc. Government is cutting back on spending money on physical Activity. Most of all we have all become lazy,
we depend on quick fix, jenny craig, abb buster, buns of steels in 2 weeks type of crap when healthy living is a lifestyle.

it's SO easy to eat wrong. it's a lot harder to put time and effort to eat right. i noticed this these days since i'm eating healthier and avoidingall fast food and soda and junk food. i was at the mall today, trying to see what i can get that wouldn't have like 1000mg of sodium in it. in the end ijust ended up eating lettuce and grilled chicken which was pretty salty so it was probably high in sodium anyway. but everyone else was eating like chickenterriyaki, wendys, taco bell, etc. it's cheap and it's terrible for you. also all the "healthy" foods are damn expensive. most places wereasking like 7+ for salad while for 7+ u can get like a double bacon cheeseburger with large fries and drink.

i think it's caused by unhealthy diet, and of course the lack of exercise can't help at all...
