:::OFFICIAL SNEAKER CARE/MAINTENANCE POST::: (It's back!)

I didn't know about the 24 hour recommendation, but it makes sense. It definitely left the material damp. I sprayed my flyknit lunars. No discoloration, it is a mildly white liquid tho, don't see it doing any damage to anything honestly

Repped for the review. I would hate to throw them on dark blue or black leather/suede and the shoes discolor or it alters the look. I'll test it out on beaters before applying.

i got paint on my air bubble on my military blue 4s when i was stripping the paint of the midsole.. i tried to take it off with the same acetone i took off the shoe but its not coming off.. anybody know what i should do? i went 1 step forward and 2 steps back I'm tight man

^the paint isn't that bad on the air bubble compared to other shoes I've stripped before. Just keep using the acetone but with a q-tip to apply around the air bubble. After removing the paint use the other end of the q-tip to absorb and dry off the excess acetone.

Thanks it worked pretty good!

In regards to shoe maintenance, i was wondering how all of you store your sneakers. This year i started storing my sneaker differently then before because I noticed some of my retros started turning yellow after only being in the box with no paper. For example I noticed my DS 2012 Olympic 6s icy sole has already started to yellow slightly and I kept it in the box with no paper with one silica gel packet, same thing happened with a pair of DS 2011 Concord & DS 2009 Space Jam 11s (which I expected though) I recently bought, they were stored the same exact way and I know that for sure because I bought them off a friend. Since I noticed this I try to keep all of my sneakers stored in open Ziploc bags inside the original boxes with all the original paper and materials in a seperate plastic bag. I also place small .5 gram silica gel packets in most boxes especially the icy sole sneakers and I'm thinking of replacing the gel packets every once in awhile or taking them out completely after theyve done their job, I've heard good things about silica gel packets but also a lot of really bad things. A lot of reasons why I try to go thru a couple extra measures to store my sneakers is not only to keep them fresher for longer but also because I dont have enough room to store all my sneakers in a closet, basement or other dark/climate controlled area.

Thing is I have a theory that if the paper inside the box causes the sneaker to yellow quicker, then why wouldn't it be the same thing with the cardboard box too? there made of the same thing. Thats why i place my sneakers in open plastic bags now.

So please EVERYONE PLEASE LET ME KNOW if you guys do the same thing or know anybody who does this. Tell me if it was successful or a complete failure for some of the people that you know doing this or just your THOUGHTS on anything I said at all

i know this thread has gone over and over the same topics again and again so I apologize in advance.

after 1 wear it seems that i've stained the sole of my carmines pretty good. i know i know... thats what is supposed to happen if you wear your shoes. but after scrubbing and scrubbing, i'm convinced i dirt stained the sole.

any tips on cleaning white soles? or do you guys use any products like this to prevent that?

will this work to cover up a sloppy reglue in space jams? pls help me out.
Post pics, I personally believe removing the glue stain is the best option and depending on how bad it is, it's not that big of a deal to me. But do what you gotta do. I have never used the spray.

Personally man, I don't even get caught up about the wear and tear of a shoe. Every time an issue comes up, I just fix it. Bottoms of your soles' yellow? Salon Care 50 that thing. Life's a lot easier for me that way lol. Oxidation is going to occur no matter how you store your shoes, but keep it going if you can make them last longer.

is there a way to decrease metallic 5s and toro 4s??

If you're thinking about using the ironing/steaming method, I would recommend you watching this vid first:

Would be extremely wary of doing it on anything besides flat leather.

I edited my original post, but do you have an actual stain or are your soles just yellowing? Different methods to fix the different issues. If you have an actual stain, I would recommend you posting pics first, but pure acetone is what is goona be most likely recommended for you to use to fix it. It's strong stuff though, so know how to use it properly.

If your issue is just yellowing/oxidation:

Thank you, repped!
so these sea glow videos are what you suggest for me to use as reference to ice up my soles?

Word good looking out, ive never tried it before because i was always afraid of sole seperation

Everyone gets sole separation, I wouldn't worry, if it does happen, just post back in here with pics. It's not hard to re-glue.

@dontbethelikethat here it is

Yeah glue stains are tough, gotta take them off immediately or they can be like impossible to get out. I think you posted about this before and I gave a good amount of links, so I'll assume they didn't work.

I think the toe box area is tough since there's not a lot of space to work with, but on the sides of the PL, you just gotta acetone it and it should whiten and crust up, then you just have to scrape it off. This can be difficult because acetone is extremely dangerous on PL, you have to be very gentle or your going to take off the glossy finish on the PL.

It might not even work, some glue stains are just super tough like that. Could also try WD-40.

But yeah repainting is an option if you can't get it off, although it might look not that good since you have to paint over glue.

Also looks like they did use that spray can you were asking about earlier. These guys are pretty reputable so, I guess you can take their word for it.
