:::OFFICIAL SNEAKER CARE/MAINTENANCE POST::: (It's back!)

Here's a pair of 2000 Space Jam 11's I restored for a customer.

I rebuffed the patent leather, reglued the midsoles, reglued the bottom soles, cleared the yellowing on the bottom soles, defuzzed the sock balls on the sock liner, decreased the ankle support, and cleaned up the previous owner's mess.

Anybody have this issue? My flint 13's have turned pink around the pods. Ive tried retr0brite with 40% and it made it more noticeable. I'm just thinking what kind of chemical reaction started this....

The last thing I want to do is repaint it white.

I've been having that same issue now more than ever. I tried to use a tiny amount of acetone around the pods, but I didn't want to over do it. It came off on the pods, but there's no way I'm getting acetone close to where the midsoles are attached to the upper, nor put it on the suede, I don't wanna risk getting the glue undone.

I've thought about repainting them white, but then again, the white paint is going to stand out so much, that I rather just leave them alone.

really?! So the pink completely vanished with acetone?

Just curious if anyone knows as to why OG 5's nettings don't yellow nearly as much as '99/'00 retros and later. I know the peeps in this thread are pretty knowledgeable. Thanks.

The nets on ogs are made of a different material......(what is was and they changed it idk?)........so if you ever see 1990 5s with deep yellow netting there fake.........i thought they didnt yellow at all though? If so jst barley cause all the og 5s iv seen have had clear nets.....piss yellow soles but dem nets be clear doe.......

anyone use the shoe containers from thecontainerstore? i know the front opening ones say they only fit size 10 (wonder if i could sneak an 11 in there) but do the regular top closing ones hold 11s?

Has anyone on here done business with Raleigh Restorations? His work looks excellent and i was interested in doing business with him .. any feed back would be helpful

Hey guys in your opinion which works better for keeping icy soles from yellowing ziplock or plastic containes? Thanks!

^^^ I use the plastic containers with silica packs. It slows the yellowing but with age it will still yellow.

I have about 20 pairs of kicks which consist of Air Jordans, Airmax 95's and Airmax 90's which are all well taken care of and all are being worn in a rotation. I have very few DS pairs but the rest are VNDS condition.

My Question: I have pretty much all of them inside a ziplock bags (Not sealed) for one main reason, DUST!!! Will my kicks be ok overtime having them in the ziplock bags? When I decide to wear a pair, I'll bring them out of the bag. When I'm done wearing them, I will wait a couple of hours before I put them back inside the ziplock bags so they air out properly from wear. Like mentioned, I DO NOT SEAL THE BAGS so air can still reach the kicks. I use them just to shield my kicks from dust. I also don't use silica packs. When I kept them in their original box, that's when I put 1 silica pack per box. Please let me know if what I've been doing is ok for my kicks. Thanks in advance.

i do the same thing but i ziplock the bag, air gets in either way.Unless you vacum seal it or shrink wrap it. i think youll be fine.

How

do you get out this black smudge? I purchased a suede cleaner from champs and when the foam touched the suede it made the black smudge worse so any tips or ways to get it out? thanks.

Great Job! How long did it take you to un-yellow the soles and to finish the job overall?
