I'm not sold on Ishikawa at first...Did he really make a big impression when he was called up last September? I know Ishikawa got everyone attention aftertoday's game.

Neither am I. When Travis was called-up, I just wasn't really into him even though he already had previous experience in the big leagues priorto last seasons call-up.

I, do recall, however, that Mike Krukow was very high on Travis last season saying that, "He's muscled up."

The question with Ishikawa is whether or not he can hit well enough to keep Pablo Sandoval at 3rd base.

He's MLB ready in terms of the glove. He's easily the best defensive 1st baseman in the organization. It's whether or not he can hit, notnecessarily for power, but in th 6th or 7th slot in the order.

I see what you're saying about Burriss, but what makes you sold on Frandsen? Neither are proven.
 
Frandsen came in pretty solid a few years back, however he hasn't proven much to me over the past few seasons. I'll just put my money on whoever thecoaches decide to through in there.

I don't know what the deal is with Justin TV. The guy who was running the channel I was watching yesterday said you can get banned for broadcasting springtraining games because they were normally tape delayed or something. I didn't quite get it, some policy they have.

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. -- Amid the backdrop of the Los Angeles Dodgers' latest contract offer to free agent Manny Ramirez, the Giants remain absent from the bidding.
Team president Larry Baer said Thursday that club officials have exchanged voicemail messages in the last few days -- most recently Wednesday -- with Scott Boras, Ramirez's agent. Baer said that the Giants have discussed "concepts" for an offer with Boras, but indicated that they haven't made one.

This is consistent with San Francisco's stated intent to avoid entering a bidding war for Ramirez, who has been offered a two-year, $45 million package to return to Los Angeles.

"We haven't been asked to make an offer in the last couple of days," Baer said. "I don't want to characterize it really much beyond that. It's been consistent with, quite frankly, the last few weeks. ... There's nothing really new to report from our side."

The Giants have been mentioned as the most likely team besides the Dodgers to sign Ramirez, the left fielder who would nicely fit into their cleanup spot and dramatically improve their chances of winning the National League West. But San Francisco, which signed free agents Jeremy Affeldt, Bob Howry, Randy Johnson and Edgar Renteria earlier in the offseason in an effort to upgrade its roster, doesn't feel that adding Ramirez is a must.

Said Baer: "We've talked about it until we're literally blue in the face -- Dodger blue in the face -- that we've been in conversation with [Boras] ... and it hasn't been pushed beyond that."

Citing Ramirez's considerable success with the Dodgers in last season's final two months, as well as the organization's desire to bring him back, Baer said that he believes the slugger ultimately will return to Los Angeles.

"The forces of gravity may dictate that's where he ends up," Baer said.

So with Manny rejecting the Dodgers offer AGAIN...Do the Giants have a chance now? Haha.

I think we're going to see a different Randy Johnson this year. Personality wise that is. His two interviews with Ralph and Tom on KNBR have been great andI think he's going to be a totally different person.
 
Listening to Damon Bruce almost every night for the past three months; he always convinces me on why we should sign Manny.

What Manny wants, which he has made clear all along is a 4-5 year contract, I don't think the Giants are going to want to lock him down forthat long but we'll see.

exactly so this is going to drag out.

Dodger fans are like "come on just sign" but they don't realize that this dude has no loyalty to anyone. He quit on the team when he played inBoston, you think he gives a %%%% about the Dodgers. He said himself that if he doesn't get a contract he wants then he may retire...

True. I wouldn't want the Giants wanting to sign him for more than two years. This latest rejection should make the Dodgers look somewhereelse to fill in holes on their line-up. I mean, I would be pissed if I was a GM and offered three contracts with no competition to sign Manny and he rejectsall three offers.
 
i would seriously LMAO if manny signs with the dodgers for however long and just quits on em.

To be honest I wouldn't mind if they offered him 3 maximum.

Bottom Line: He puts runs on the board, Giants need that desperately

Yeah they would have to deal with all the "Manny being Manny" $%!+@++*, but with him they giants could run the West easily. It would also throw awrench into the outfield too, someone would have to go. The Giants have hitters though and with him in the line-up, it will get everyone else more pitches tohit.
 
Lincecum just signed a 1year deal for 650k? +!*

sorry i dont really follow baseball anymore but for the current cy young winner, this doesnt make any sense to me.

lazy +@+ manny is rejecting 45 mil contracts and tims signing for less than a mil?
 
Giants control him until 2012, I believe he is still under his minor league contract

Lincecum won't be "arbitration eligable" until after this season, which is when so the Giants will have 2 years to lock him down long term, butlook for them to do it as soon as possible. I believe that same thing happened with both Cain and Lowry

maybe someone else can shine a little light on this if I'm wrong
