I go to a school where this isn't a huge problem. But I am familiar with this that Public schools this resides as a massive problem.
Yeah, I don't like the "melting pot" metaphor because that would mean that we're all the same. In a salad there's multiplecomponents like the lettuce, other veggies, croutons etc., without everything fusing together.
But somewhere along the line this became another tendency that was deemed "racist" in society. I hate how there's this sentimentthat because races generally don't associate with each other it's a bad thing. It's just natural human instinct to associate with things that arefamiliar. I have nothing against minorities at all, I just don't have anything in common with them, I wasn't raised around them, so why should I beforced to make friends with them. As long as I'm not actively suppressing their ability to interact in society, then who gives a f?
maybe thats midwest thing. public colleges over here dont have that problem.

The best thing my high school did was get rid of honors Language Arts courses. Everyone thrown in together, including the elective LA courses. Youcould do some extra work outside of class to get that little "H" on your transcript, but in the classroom, the whole school was equal. It was farmore successful than any diversity assemblies, days of respect, love thy neighbor, etc. garbage that was forced on the entire student body.
