i was sittin up in the cribs gettin blunted and i was lookin at the various amount of crap i got, cuz imma straight up pack right...love collecting things that

interest me, so i start staring at these action figures i got still in they're plastic boxes...a old mulit jointed spiderman

45d0_1.JPG

and this rare set of MK figures, im missin the other 1/2 of em which imma buy when soon enuff...i be forgettin..lolz

so anywayz, i was thinking to myself...why don't todd Mc farlene or some noteworthy figure maker just license the likeness to a couple of rappers, create

and sculpt some figures based on em, and package albums with em? the way we talk about rappers in this forum reminds me of the way i used to be on the

playground and we all used to argue "how spiderman would smack pavement into batman" and somehow people could somehow conjur up a argument on how

batman would beat him....and if step up the age level a little you'd here people arguing "hey X-men's comic pencil work is WAY BETTER thenanything then

the hulk comics as a whole"....

these rappers are as much of a entertainment entity and franchine as there fantasy hero counterparts, which arguably as much passionate fans....

so by creating a lane a toy company comes out with a series set of rapper action figures, detailed enuff to here they look just like em and you could actually"play"

with em but make em at a price point where you wouldn't think twice of picking it up.....

i mean think about it, it would create a whole new way to market rappers....

imagine a series one of "jay-z, nas, biggie, pac, scarface"

its known that rappers change overtime so you can create Variants of the same rapper based on the years of they career for example a "illmatic nasfigure"

packaged with illmatic, and nas wearing a army suit, and he can have accessories with him like "a old hennesy bottle, his old yellow QB chain"

or you can have the "streets disciple nas" figure wearing a king tut outfit with a golden goblet, etc.

shoot i know if they ever did that i'd cop every single one of em....imagine a killa cam action figure based on his purple haze album....it would come withpurple

haze (the album) and his rockin a purple mink, a rocafella chain, and you can drop a quickstrike variant pink mink version.....the possibilites are endless inmy

opinion.

its been already proven that we would cop rapper merchandise if its done and represented well ....look at def jam vendetta, that game rocked!.....and so far

every rapper figurine or doll ever dropped sold WELL.....

imagine expanding on something like this....include a album, make limited edition ones, create hype, drop quick strikes.....

what ya think?

i think it would fly...if you told someone a decade ago that someone would create a fighting game based on rappers and drop it on the playstationpeople wouldn't

believe it...look what happen with that though...

and that eminem figure that dropped in 2001 sold very well...so imagine a series of rapper figures, complete with one of they albums. sell em like at 10 bux,

and market them to the 15-25 year old crowd..they'd be a smash hit.

And that's because you dont have 10 of these things dropping every month. If we did the novelty would wear off quick.

Whatever you smoking though, pass it this way!

son, look were at...we on a sneaker message board.....created by fans...who the da hell would think hundreds of thousands of people would spendHOURS,

DAYS, WEEKS, MONTHS, YEARS, talking to strangers about FOOTWEAR.....if i'd tell you about the concept of Niketalk in 1995 i would've been committed

asylum.

so i think that people would definately buy something that they're passioniate about.....like figures based on the likenessness of rappers packaged withthey album...

i mean i've seen people drop HUNDREDS of dollars on cardboard sheets of printed paper called pokemon cards and they recieved major fan fare...

its been done already with that eminem one, ghostface, jay-z, will smith (techincally)

and you guys don't realize how big a market there is overseas for things like this.....you know that 500 dollar ghost facedoll SOLD OUT right?

you know why it would work?

because rappers and the rap world is in MANY ways like the comic book world....

they are marketed very similar:

-controversity

-cult like following of obsure characters

-classic fan favorites

-the same way a comic geek can identify the "first appearence of venom or carnage" in a comic book is the same way a rap fan can identify the
first appearence of they favorite rappers....for example i can tell you when fabolous First freestyle on hot 97 along side Noreaga on the monday night mixtape.

- spin offs series and short comic runs resemble the way mixtape are modeled...to create and raise the profile of a character/rapper before they go on to star
in they own joint.

-rap fans/comic fans NEVER let go of the past...they always want the Illmatic nas the same way the want the "jim lee drawn x-men" or when spidermanwas

helmed by Todd Mcfarlene

-comics and rap music is Entertainment, one involves fictionary based characters and they powers the have, the others involve live action people the spit linesof

"fictionary tales" or tales that are WILDLY exxagerated for entertainment...

-the same way comic book characters have powers are the same way rappers all got different "skills"......Nas for example is good at story tellin, lloyd banks is a

punchline rappers, Tupac was a emo thug, Fabolous has a array of witty lines, Jada can flow, etc.

spiderman does things, batman does his thing, green lantern does his thing, iron man does his thing, etc, etc.

why do you think rappers always taking "super hero" nick names? there worlds play into each other alot...

so why not package and sell that to fans of rap like they would do to fans of comics? i think it would work tremedously.

u basically want to replace one dying product (CD)...with another one (action figures)...

oh, oh yeah....

u do realize females are the main buyers of music right?

and you tellin me the boppers and lil girls out here wouldn't buy a juelz santana figure cuz she thought it was cute?

pssh...joint smells like cash cow waitin to happen....

Im almost 27 damn years old. not only am I embarrassed to buy albums because of most of the songs on them, but now I have to buy a doll to get it too? F'that!

I don't know about action figures.....but if artist start pre-packaging their music with tangible items that people desire and can't be easilyboot-legged over the net...it might rejuvenate sales a lil bit.

Video games, artwork , stickers, collectibles (action figures included), jewelry, clothes something.

Package a bunch of s_ together, hype it up and sell it for 20 - 30 beans...might work for certain artists.

so throw in MORE %*%% that nobody wants and RAISE the prices even higher? I got a wackkkky idea...how about just making good music...crazy i know but it mightjust work.

action figures aint the answer tho...

action figure WOULD work because your planting the seeds of hype...think about it, you'd have people that HATE a particular rapper or personbut to complete the set the gotta

get it.

imagine a series set that consisted of :

"hot boys" lil wayne, "Escobar" nas lookin like he did in street dreams, Gucci Mane with a mini OJ the juiceman, and a "variant"lil wayne thats painted green to resemble him as a martian, limited edition.

each of them prepackaged with a CD, or a expansion micro SD with music and videos preloaded.

im tellin ya man, that would sell...for like 10-15 bux

I got a holographic Mew card that came when i saw the Pokemon movie at the theater, How much you think that would go for?

Ancient Mew you mean

Anyways the idea itself of packaging the CD with an action figure wont go off, simply because that would mean increasing CD prices. Maybe dropping a actionfigure series that is available at stores then maybe there is profit from that, or even a limited edition with the action figure just how the video games doit. But imo the best bet would be to include some item of interest with the cd, not a action figure specifically.

so make somethin that nobody wants to buy in the first place even more expensive? Yeah great idea

They need to focus on making a WHOLE album of good @$!! rather than putting 5 good songs on a cd with 7 skits, an intro/outro and "snippets" of othersongs.
