hmmm, i got a idea on how rappers can start sellin they music again...its a wacky! lolz

Wouldn't work. I buy CD's and as a consumer I'm not trying to spend extra dough on a action figure I'd rather not have anyway.

Think quality product, not hype.

Plenty of artists make good music, its just people choose to D/L it.

eyes.gif

so make somethin that nobody wants to buy in the first place even more expensive? Yeah great idea

They need to focus on making a WHOLE album of good @$!! rather than putting 5 good songs on a cd with 7 skits, an intro/outro and "snippets" of other songs.

The hell you rolling your eyes at. In order to sell you need to make a whole album of good %@#$? Tha Carter III was good? Album sales have NOTHING to do withthe quality of the music.

idk why but this thread had me laughin.

but on the real abh got a point.

i'd prolly cop a cd packaged with a baller id type
wristband that has the logo of The Roc on it or something.

or if they gave secret codes inside the cd package that you can enter online
that can give you special privileges ala nike and jordan brand
just sending free #%++ to whoever signed up on jumpman23 and nike.

i know i'd cop that.
pimp.gif

i know the music industry don't got as much bread at their disposal
unlike nike, but if they start givin people somethin they can keep
aside from the music itself and the booklet, maybe some folks will cop.

...never action figures though.

i dont think a package deal for cd's and action figures is a good fit...if it was something else, maybe along the lines of :

buy this cd, inside there is a online code so you can listen to all the songs that didnt make the album..

or only put this code in special edition lp's etc..

just a thought..and i think a good one at that..cuz im still looking for all the stuff that didnt make L.A.X. (he has some bangers that didnt make the albumeither)

Basically anything that you can get ONLY if you copped the album.

With the code thing, it's gonna leak out online one way or another. The action figure idea isn't that bad but it's not gonna work that well.

I guess 1 unique code per CD that gives you access to a private website with tons of extras, exclusives, unreleased material, mixtapes, previews, videos, interviews and free material might work. Tie each code in with that persons account too.

fact of the matter is music in 2009 is free, a prepackaged idea with a figure WOULD work, here's why...and i can keep cost down...

nba16_joneal2_photo_04_dp.jpg

let's take this jermaine o'neal figure for example

-licensing off alot of the branding for promotional use would keep ALOT of cost down ( fat joe with some jordans on, Nas with a Fila sweatsuit, Jay-z withrocawear, Etc.)

- the record label would sell alot of Adspace by promoting alot of other acts and products on the packaging of each toy, kinda like when you buy a CD and youget all those

"comming soon" inserts from other rappers that posed to drop that year.

-the CD/DVD/ Micro SD would come with commericals from other products as well as the respective's rapper's videos....

the whole set would be 10-15 bux for everything, cuz let's face it...a CD has been overpriced for about a decade now.

only thing _'s gonna do is rip the tracks ... or pass the codes around.

i dont think the concept is terrible, however i would prefer if rappers made albums with more than 3 good songs...i still buy albums or dl on itunes, if its agood album

i would start buying more albums if they had tangible extras in there, such as action figures, maybe. i see the OP's point...maybe not an action figure, but it could be something else as well. i like the idea...then $15 for that "package" of CD+extra would be reasonable. something like that wouldprobably be needed to boost sales...

Dom had an idea in another thread about giving a cd out with concert tickets. thought that was a good idea. I wouldnt mind t shirts with album purchases. Ibought Luda Red Light District and it had a free shirt. I bought(maybe preordered) purple haze and I got a Roc calender. still got it too

.

Also like stated, T-Shirts or stuff like that. Imagine if any Diplomat cd would have came with the Diplomats New Era. Def would have gone Plat. or Juelz cdwith the Juelz fitted. If the re-release of Reasonable Doubt with the 10 year anny New Era.
smh.gif
These are all promotional sale items that came out that sold out so imagine gettingthe cd with it and bumping the price of the fitted/cd would have been crazy. Possibilities would have been endless.

problem is your on a honor system.....and what you think is good is subjective, someone may not like what you like and just download it.

i know i'd cop even a mediocre album if it came with extras, cuz the fact of the matter is if i rip the album to my itunes i'll delete the wack tracks.

agreed. Also, could include tickets to a local signing. Half the people probably won't even remember to go or couldn't make it. Point isthey get the bread already

. Artists would have to do more work, butnowadays that what you gotta do to get more $.

Right now since Blu-Ray Discs are not as widely bootlegged...some Blu Ray flicks would be ill.

Or new models of prepackaged iPods for big name artists. Like a New customized iPod touch with the new Nas or Jay-Z album, exclusives, and unreleased tracks, videos and movies.

Too expensive for us but hundreds of thousands of people cop new iPods on the day they drop alone....throw in the option to get a device customized andpreloaded with all of your favorite artists new work and it would move.

U2 did it.

they're not going to rely solely on the prepackaged iPod for sales, it's supplementary income. In this day and age you have to find otheravenues for $$.
