Official New Balance Thread *sizing info for different models on first page*

theres plenty of 1500s, 577s, 998s, 997s, 999s, etc etc in the stores, people can just go try em on. may not be the colorway theyre after but at least they can see for themselves how each model they personally like fits
I'm in Buffalo, NY and rarely ever see any of those models in stores. There's not many sneaker boutiques around here, so the only places I really see sneakers are at Foot Locker or Finish Line which really only carry 574's.

no, there arent. they might be in YOUR area, but not everyone is as fortunate to have NBs available like that.

Bruh you got Cmonwealth, Major and GT Players in DC alone for the DMV heads...

Plenty of DTLR's/Shoe City's/Sports Zone's have many of those Models as well as the DMV has been big on NB's since the 90's...

If you can't find these models to try on, you aren't looking hard enough....

im not talking about myself. if you noticed, i dont ask sizing questions every day like some of these dudes. im just stating that not everyone has stores like that, that carry 997, 998s, 1500s, etc. so they can try them on. so dude just saying people should try shoes on, is a fairly ignorant remark.

trying on shoes is an ignorant remark?

alright bruh

the problem is that a lot of these NBs that we want, are not available in store, so its not that easy to just try them on. i know in the DMV that there are only a couple spots to try on NBs and its not like they have all the models either.
repped

do people never try on shoes now? id suggest trying on a model you like in the store then search for your fav colorway
I don't get places in the UK that sell NB, as I'm planning on buying my first pair I thought I'd ask for peoples opinion on here.

That and I work away from home so I couldn't just go in a store and try stuff on even if I did find a store that stocked them.

check out the link in my sig, good sizing chart there but it is only for comparing the size differences between other models but not brands.

I am a TTS 10.5 in NB

but I wear a 9.5 in dress shoes

But this is how I see it

Old NB:

577

- Size down half a size, maybe full

myself as ex. I'd go with a 10

New NB:

577

- size half up

myself as ex. I'd go with an 11

asian made 998

(tassie as example)

they run big and the wide toebox makes it even seem bigger

- I have a size 10 and I am a tts 10.5 in most NBs

1700

- size .5 down (I go with the 10 in that model)

1600

- tts or maybe half up

998

- depends, the reissue gnr is really snug on me but most of my 998s are 10.5 and I'm happy, cnotes are somewhat snug too, probably materials

999

- you can size half down

1300 and 1400

- sizing is essentially the same

I have pairs in 10.5 but I could pull a 10

1500

- tts or if old nb, you can go under 0.5

997

- same sizing as 998, more narrow toebox but not enough to go up a size

996

- don't own any but i heard it is recommended to go down 0.5

580

- i have 10.5 pairs but you can go down 0.5, the wide toebox helps

uhh I just rambled some sizing, the chart might save different as that was an average from many users, feel free to message or comment and I can try to help

I have a narrow foot but I like toebox room so this is my opinion
Thank you for taking the time to type that out for me, it's much appreciated and it helped a lot.

I'm hoping to pick up a pair of Daytona's for my first NB.

it is ignorant, because you dont know where everyone lives, what stores are in their area, what shoes those stores carry. so just telling people "go try it on" is ignorant because you have some type of elitist attitude.
so youre telling me theres absolutely NO WAY in hell people can just try on shoes? ****..unless you live in a ****** cave im sure theres SOMEWHERE you can go check em out. youre taking this rather personal for some reason. theres a sizing chart worst case scenario..people can check that easily and still get it wrong. I have some type of elitist attitude? right..unlike most i buy my tts and find out for myself if they fit or not

wasnt tryna be a d*ck about it, i was just stating it, this thread is FLOODED with sizing questions, someone really needs to sticky that sizing chart. everyones size is gonna be different, most of the time if you go tts youll be fine

Yeah, for the most part the sizing chart is at least referred to every 5 pages or so, so I feel like people aren't taking their time and reading.

Also, other than one pair I own that I wasn't able to find in a decent price in my normal size, every single pair is a 10.5 and I have multiple different models. I don't really see the need to switch up sizes across the board...

Same sizing applies to me as well. All made in the USA & UK that I buy are size 11. Ive never once had an issue.

i get the size chart, but do you realize how ignorant you sound right now? you're assuming that people have places they can go to, to try on NBs, just because YOU do. NBs arent like am90s or jordans, where you can go into any FTL or FNL and try them on. NBs arent popular in all markets, so they dont get distributed everywhere.

Every pair I own is 10.5-11 and it works well for me. I was really surprised to see how in depth go for sizing

yeah I can see that, I guess the only pairs I'd have problems going tts in (10.5) would be the 1700 and the 577 uk (new banana shape pair), they are just vary to me, other than that, since I have no stores that sell anything, besides your dtlr and FL, i was lucky that need supply had the 997gy and could try it on but I guess with time and other peoples suggestions, everyone will see what works for them
