While the 997NV isn't quite as good as the 997GY with pebbled tongue, it is still an absolutely great pair. I don't really see what issues could be had. IMO they are better than the 990N for sure.

I think the 990N has better suede than the 997NV. But that's it.

Ugh I was tryna resell the Brooklyn bridges....nope!
Hopefully I'll be able to sell my 997nv ds I doubled up on, size 9 if anyone is interested...I really like the 997nv, didn't know it was kinda hyped up. Of course the gy is more striking than the nv.

Yeah, I could probably agree with that. I like the grey accents though in the 997.

Just about to ask the versus question but you preemptes it.
990N was my favorite shoe last year. I wore that bad boy out.
I did make the mistake of Jason Mark on the suede and it was never the same.

Really my suede seemed the same on both then again my grey pair was a little but more beat and worn more than my navy but ill have to see when I get my second pair from up there.

Also both were labeled as suede/leather on nb.com it's not like they used a pigskin suede like they did on the premium pairs because the gys deff weren't that high of quality

Navy seems rougher than the Grey, which a bit softer to the touch (I don't own the GY, but I have seen it and noticed that fact). Nothing compares to the suede on the 998GRB, though. That shoe takes the cake.

i thought they used pigskin suede on all their US made NBs. i had both the navy and gray 997s and they seemed the same to me. i've got a bunch 997/998 models... some suede panels are def noticeably richer than other parts... but isn't that bc of the nature of real pig skin? like some parts of the pig skin is not as hairy.. which is why the suede panels can be inconsistent. no?
