Official New Balance Thread *sizing info for different models on first page*

nice work on those. amazing what storing a shoe with shoe trees will do for the shape. 10 bucks is the come up.

yea in my size and $10 bucks 'buy now' was a no brainer to at least try to restore them. I tissue paper stuff my shoes so they still fit in the boxes. I like shoe trees but hate having shoes not in boxes.

998LL for 110 and 996DGY for 90 on Full Kit, don't know how legit they are though. Sadly can't kop the 996 because no international shipping.

Dude! Thank you and repped. That extra 20% made me feel more than ok with grabbing these for around $100 shipped. Will be my first pair of 577's, I'm pumped..

someone else posted the pool blue 998 deal from here... but they have a 577 anniversary in a 9.  my size too, but passing... too many gray sneakers. they've got a few sizes for the black pair as well.

Hey guys. I just snagged a pair of 997tny's and just had some questions about the pair I received.

The ENTIRE toe box on the right shoe is completely smooth. There's absolutely no suede fuzz at all, whereas the left shoe does have it. Did any receive any pairs like this from Concepts? Also, was their quality control just THAT bad or do you guys think I might've received some kind of variant, fake or should've probably been labeled a factory second, but somehow just made it by?

I did the best I could to try and capture the smoothness of the toe box, but it doesn't look as obvious as it does in person. Hope you guys can still make it out pretty clearly though. Also, strangely enough, the shoe size wasn't marked on the box. The tongue label looks fine to me, but please let me know if you guys feel indifferent...

^^ hes referring to an outlet pick up, those are the last ones not the new ones

Completely overlooked that my bad.

igotssssoul igotssssoul those are perfectly legit, it's just the nature of the suede and the two toe boxes being cut from a different piece. It happens with all brands unfortunately, but you may notice it more often with New Balance since they use so many genuine materials.

Thank you so much for shedding some light on it. I was pretty concerned that I might've paid for some factory seconds lol...

Glad to help. I definitely don't think they're factory seconds, I've seen a lot of NBs with similar issues. To the factory workers it's not really considered a defect since it's just aesthetic and it's something they see everyday.

Where did you purchase them? If it really bothers you maybe you can call and try to get some of discount code.

jwolfe jwolfe amazing restoration job up there.

Managed these 998s off eBay for $10 haha. They were pretty rough but figured I could clean them up to be nice beaters. Anyone know what year these might be from? The midsoles are not grey but yellow and the tongue/heel hit seem to be the older style. Thanks!
That's a come up. How's the sole? Can it still handle weight?

I copped some 996's from a thrift a few months back...they looked old and had a stamped tongue...midsole cracked right away though so had to put them to rest.

I have often received NB's that have different textures (even slightly different colors). Just gotta remember, the leather (or suede) came from several different animals. I wouldn't worry about it so much. Just appreciate the differences
