Official New Balance Thread *sizing info for different models on first page*

Mostly shape. I also remember reading on here someone said the GY was constructed by NBs "best" workers, but I'm not sure how true that is. The GY was a pretty big reissue whereas the GY2 fell in line with a normal GR release.
Thanks @runners781

I'm looking at picking up a pair.  I've seen the GY2 available, but the GY is a bit harder to find.  Both look good, so not sure if I should just copy the GY2 or hold out and wait to grab the GY at a decent price.  If not much difference in materials and shape, I'll grab whatevers cheaper.

GY is releasing Q3 next year so don't stress and if you want the GY2 and could get them for a decent price I would go for it.

Dot understand this shoe, for the price they'll be, I'd rather a proper pair of grensons, or brogues instead...

The point is too have a sneaker with that quality and style. I think it's pretty cool, always enjoyed the brogue 1400s

agree. i have both and the gy2 is very solid and well worth it if you get it for a good discount. will def be picking up another pair next year without question and prob will always grab one whenever it releases.

I personally just picked up the GY after waiting forever, but had to pay Canadian retail (still saved like $20). I haven't had a chance to wear them, but I would pay retail on them if it was the only option. Took me about 9 months to find a pair DS that wasn't an outrageous price though.  The GY2 would still be a very solid pickup, especially if you can get it for like $100-$120.

I got a pair of GYs in today....BEAUTIFUL. The shape is absolutely impeccable.

Paid like $135 shipped from Canada...way better than the $200+ folks are asking for on eBay. Personally I'd go for the GY over the GY2 any day of the week.

What store?  PM me if you prefer.

^ Groovy Shoes in Toronto. They were having a Boxing Day sale...25% off regularly priced shoes.

Grabbed the 997HL for $125ish shipped, as well. Code wasn't supposed to work on sale shoes but they gave me 25% off the regular price on those.

Their shipping is slow, although it could be because of the holiday season (still waiting for the HLs). And they ship in a brown bag wrapped around the shoe box, which bugs me. But yeah, I'm not mad at all with their pricing.

400

Their site is fishy looking, but I agree they have good prices at times. I just wish they would pack their items properly. What happened to my package was really fedex's fault, but double boxing wouldn't have hurt.

Your prob a bigger size finding a GY with a good price in smaller sizes is pretty tough.

Damn, hope someone was able to grab those 8.5 snf's. Forgot about it ending earlier after the asics x clot drop.

Luckily the shoes were fine. Box dried up and isn't too bad, but I didn't think they would cheap out on a shipping box. I know for next time though.

Regarding my fedex guy(s), I don't think they give a damn. UPS is usually good with me on the other hand.

Glad to hear the kicks are good, but yea you would think you shouldntt have to make sure they are going to be double boxed. smh

GY at full retail > GY2 at any discount sub 50%: The 997GY is easily the best sneaker I own, (Only pair that comes close is 1500CHF), and is definitely one of my favorites. Don't bank on the release coming Q3 to be anything like the pair that released last year, they might be, but they way NB is heading, I would be very very surprised. The GY have a $200 retail and are the ONLY NB GR I would pay retail for. my $0.02

Today's wear:

Yea I grabbed them but may have to offer them back up if they are too snug usually a 9 in 998 and that's already .5 down from my tts.
